Hollywood “Plans Gundam Movies”

gundam-rim

Gundam creator Yoshyuki Tomino is said to be on the verge of announcing a full blown Hollywood adaptation of the Gundam franchise.

Los Angeles based special effects studio “Legacy Effects,” best known for their work on the likes of Iron Man, Avatar and Pacific Rim, is said to be planning a project “to bring Hollywood movies based on Japanese anime and manga titles to a global audience,” with the first title to be announced by Tomino on a press conference scheduled for the 21st.

Astonishingly, online speculation has centered on just which franchise will be adapted (assuming this is indeed what will be announced), rather than how bad a mess Hollywood will make of it, perhaps signalling a Hollywood Gundam may yet be in with a chance – in Japan at least.

They can try, since it has been a long time since the attempt, (G-Savior), was made, with todays CGI and new concept artists (if they go with Gundam fans/writers/artists) it may not be terrible, however, much to hollywood style (pacific rim, transformers, etc ...) it will be 90% human interaction, and 10% mecha. They don't understand what the fans want nor what the story arc is about.

Sadly I must say, I will still buy it, just to own it, but it would go in a box of shame, and I would make those responsible feel my rath.

Don't bother man, they will just put in a bunch of gay actors and actresses in and make the whole Gundam theme suck ass to all. Like they did for the new transformers movies. I don't know what the fuck or who the fuck decided entertainment for 4th and 5th grade children has to be done by gay actors and gay topics, like most of Directvs non movie channel programming now, but whoever you are, you SUCK ASS. Literally.

"Pacific Rim" was an ok unofficial Eva movie. Why not...

    Comment by Anonymous

Eva consists nearly entirely of Angst the robots are just decoration. Saying PR was an unofficial Eva movie is like saying Nisekoi is the ok unofficial sequel to Nisemonogatari...

Sure... the mecha part is "just decoration". It's not like we have shitload of launch sequences, awesome fights and other action scenes, so emo-shinji can advance and move his angsty ass (since the day i've watched eva, i've had a hard time not to find autoreverse creepy).

And it's not like the main guy in "Pacific Rim" isn't suffering of some trauma, and a despotic project leader, had not him dragged to his underground facility, to not put him in the cockpit again, because he has natural talent needed to save the humanity from destructive huge things that conveniently appear one by one. This to prevent his quasi-daughter to pilot. Girl who isn't wearing a plugsuit, hasn't blue hair, and isn't totally not voiced over by Hayashibara Megumi in the japanese version...

Of course these (which aren't the complete list) might just be a truckload of accidental similarities , rather than a "let's do the same thing Disney did a few times with anime", but you have to agree ; the last one is more than amusing :)

However, Raleigh is not a whiny good-for-nothing and he did have the misfortune of feeling his brother's death IN HIS MIND at the time. And he also picked himself up and move forward, wrecking multiple Kaiju at a time.

The commander is also not a manipulative bastard. Also, Gendo treats Ayanami as his wife's replacement. The commander on the other hand, genuinely treats Mako as his daughter. What father wishes to see his darling daughter eaten by a Kaiju, huh? And ultimately he relents and let her get on a Jaeger anyway, understanding that he can't hold Mako back forever.

And they also did explain why the Kaiju appeared one by one. By the time of the movie they appear in multiples. Two, then three.

Of course it's different : it's NOT Evangelion (and they never said it was). There's no point in spotting differences between two different things.

Yet, given how targetting general audience can warp original works, Pacific Rim might have been an ok "hollywood rape". My unsincere apologies, if the "unofficial" didn't sound second degree enough for you.

This thought boils my blood. Because Michael Bay will fucking ruin it. He will look at the anime and just redesign everything to look like some shitty Transformer robot instead of a goddamn Zaku or Gundam.

Anyone but him. I would take a fucking dog with a megaphone over Michael Bay.

some one give this one the vision and the voice to speak to his neighbors right next door and see what mean things they write. he does not know them at all and thus his view is not even tainted; it is not even formed. it can not be untrue if it is based on nothing

Well, you're a retard then. Amazed you can even call yourself a mecha fan with a straight face if you hated Pacific Rim. It was awesome and you're a moron if you didn't like it.

    There's a DIFFERENCE.

One is a series, the other a movie.

One is told over ten hours, the other in less than three.

One theme has ONE main character while another has arguably more than one. How are you going to develop all of them? Another Fantastic Four Flop?

You're just grumpy it took the White Supremacy (and a fatass Mexican) to properly do bigscreen kaijus, where the Nips have failed for decades with cheesy costumes and one-use miniature cardboard towns.

I dont say we should get our hopes up, but imagine if they do make a fucking Awesome trilogy of Gundam Movies based on the Original Trilogy with Char's Counterattack as a fourth movie... Damn... Imagine if the manage to pull off a motherfucking UC franchise.... Dream about a really damn awesome Crossbone Gundam Movie, or Victory (A.K.A Slaughterland) Gundam..... Amuro is going to be like 25 years old and he will never have newtype flashes. Or if he does he goes berserk and kills everyone.

Fraw is going to be all super model hot, probably played like Alice Eve. The only cool/funny thing that might come out of this is that Bright Noa will probably be played by Samuel L Jackson and Haro will probably be a talking gun.
