I can't believe I did not recognize Haimura Kiyotaka's art style. Considering I'm a huge Index fan.
As usual, this list is crap. The illustrators on it are good picks I think but the order is horrible. Seriously, Haimura Kiyotaka is number one? His designs and style are mediocre at best. Better list from 1st to last: 5,3,9,7,6,10,8,4,2,1
And honestly Abec is probably more 3rd or 4th honestly. But I love his/her work on SAO.

Any nit wit can draw a fucking character but someone that can draw actual backgrounds for most of their characters is far superior than rest. Hence why Kantoku is better than most of these shits.
Any american artist is better than ALL these shits because they aren't cookie cutter scum who're too pussified to take stylistic risks.

its mostly because of the novels/animes that these illustrators worked on this year is the reason they became noteworthy on 2013...
as for personal preference, I've been a fan of Kantoku's works for quite some time now but I still love Buriki and Kiyotaka's works nonetheless... but Kantoku's style is still my #1.
Where is my Kizoku, Karory, Dmyo, Redjuice, Refeia, etc.
Redjuice hasn't done enough light novel illustrations, but he is an incredible illustrator. He actually did a live drawing session at the Tokyo Game Show.
