News has surfaced concerning Haruhi parody spin-off manga “The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan” receiving an anime, triggering immediate fanfare from the remaining haruhism devotees.
The news was announced by way of haruhi.tv and NTT’s d-animestore, though details regarding the anime are miniscule.
The anime is likely follow in its spin-off predecessor‘s footsteps by consisting of shorts lasting only a few minutes in duration – and both the absence of any news about a third season and the absence of Haruhi (and by extension the question of her much put upon voice actress) have not escaped comment…

Ffffffffffffffuck yeah!
I love Yuki Nagato... But for god's sake, season 3 before this series dies!(or perhaps it is already too late?)
The series didn't die, just haruhi (blame Aya), it appears we are moving on without her. Nagato is great enough though =3
Actually it took them how long to make a season 2? And half of it was crap. I don't think Aya is infaliable and unreplacable. I'm sure they can find someone else to do Haruhi's voice.
is this good news or bad news for Aya Hirano?
If she doesn't voice Nagato Yuki she's irrelevant.
Aya doesn't voice Nagato, she voices Haruhi.
Therefore irrelevant.
Wait, what? lol Are you saying that the voice for Haruhi should also do Nagato's? Vice-versa? Or are you saying Haruhi's not important enough to care if she has the same voice?
Haruhi is irrelevant, for this show is about Nagato, Nagato, Nagato, Nagato and Nagato.
Yep, if anything they can just recut some the old Haruhi voice and the story can be side story of what yuki and Kyon did on the side. MORE TIME TRAVEL!
At this point, they're sidestepping her it seems.
Yes.
I don't think that this will be just anime shorts.
Unlike Haruhi-chan, Yuki-chan's manga isn't episodic and has own story. More likely it will be full-fledged series.
I just heard about the disapearance of Nagato Yuki but is this "slice of what?" Like the original series or just some plain slice of life so we can enjoy shy Yuki?
Its going to be shy Yuki! ive read the manga and its okay but i don't see them doing more than 6 episodes for a full fledged 22 min season.
It's KyoAni... Add cake, tea and moe and they'd be able to make it 45 minutes and run a full 26 episodes.
Why? Manga has currently six volumes. That's more than enough material for at least 1-cour series.
All that scenery pronz
I've only read the first 3 volumes, but it's basically another romantic-comedy with some slice of life, I guess. Honestly, there's nothing special about it except for the fact that's it's in the Haruhi franchise. But I still like it enough to be really excited for this :) And yeah, basically Yuki from the movie, but more comfortable and talkative.
In other words, you've probably did not read the best part where Yuki suffers from amnesia, which practically turns her into her classic persona from original series.
That's "normal" Yuki, not Yuki-chan. There's also a short parody manga out there....
I haven't read it, but Asakura's a regular in this one, isn't she? That's a win in my book. ^^
This is nice and all but the character designs of the ere hideous. They better stick with the originals.
Especially the character design of Haruhi Suzumiya season 1 and not the "K-ONish" season 2...
For me, the Yuki Nagato manga has my favorite style, except for Kyon.
I will grant that Puyo isn't the greatest manga artist, but I think the key aspect of Kyon's design in THE DISAPPEARANCE OF NAGATO YUKI-CHAN manga is that this universe's Kyon is a lot less cynical than the Kyon of the MELANCHOLY universe so he has a rather different face to represent his lack of cynicism.
The DoNYC Kyon's face reminds me somewhat of Jin Mikuriya from KANNAGI: CRAZY SHRINE MAIDENS.
I was actually thinking of how Kyon looks, because I'm used to the anime's designs. So here, he looks different, but I'm not distracted by it. Although, I have noticed a personality difference, I haven't thought about the cynicism thing being a reason.
Dear god.. I hope that is not the final product. At least Yuki is back!!
Damn, this is a news, not watching anime and just frequent visiting this site, best news I've ever heard!
Well it's not S3 but SOMETHING is better than NOTHING after 3 damn years! I can't dislike this, not to my favorite character of all time - although I guess that's what the producers are counting on too, the power of alter-Yuki, which I'm indifferent about. As long as Minorin voices, they can't fail.
"The Disappearance of Aya Hirano"
Oh well, Yuki is the best girl anyway...
Couldn't disagree more ! :3 +1
This anime would be better without Itsuki.
Hell, the whole series could've been better without him.
I don't agree, the uber troll was a great addition to the series. What was wrong with him?
Part of the fun is watching Itsuki troll Kyon with semi-serious talks about philosophy and physics.
I agree with HouseLife. I mean I didn't like Koizumi as much as the other character's but it just wouldn't be the same without him.
No he added nicely to it.
It would be better without Asahina though.
Try to understand that Haruhi is a metanarative. It takes place in an extremely excitable person's vision of reality.
Koizumi is obnoxious because if he weren't, he'd blow his cover.
Itsuki is a goddamn fuckjoshit bait, just like Satoshi and Hiroomi. I don't understand why KyoAni has to pander to those yaoi fuckheads and fuckjoshits when those anime could have been better without those douchebags.
He actually was in the novel the series was made from.
Book 1 is practically the script for the first several episodes.
This wasnt much of a matter of kyoani being kyoani at all
Been waitin a helluva long time for this to come out. Patience paid off in full!
Can;t wait for KyoAni to earn money from us again!
Haruhi does appear though.
it's a decent read. it basically follows what would happen if kyon never figured out why haruhi disappeared. he meets nagato and asakura and they form the reading club. the rest of the gang show up but the story focuses on kyon and nagato. the closest thing to mindfuck is when she has short term memory loss in a certain arc.
please up vote this comment
Lol. This shit will be done by Ordet and Yamakan. Remember the Lucky Star spin-off that no one cared?
What we want is more Nagata Yukiko
Not again...
