I honestly think that new shows like Walkure Romanze, Outbreak Company, Unbreakable Machine Dolls, Nokome, and Yu-shibu would be better without the male MCs.

These guys are useless as actual characters, but they basically exist to pin the whole dynamic together. Kind of like the straight man in comedy shows, they're annoyingly unfunny at times but they provide a necessary service.

Koihime musou which had the male MC, Hongo Kazuto removed in the anime adaptation felt completely plotless to me most of the time.
