Lady Gaga Outrages Fans by Congratulating AKB48

Japan’s little monsters have been outraged at Lady Gaga’s decision to “lower herself” to congratulating AKB48 on their 8th anniversary.
The missive from the lady herself:
With AKB48 being held in such scorn by fans of actual music and with Gaga herself enjoying such popularity in Japan, many seem nonplussed that she would even deign to acknowledge Japan’s “national idols”:
“People really hate AKB now, don’t they?”
“AKB are truly shameful.”
“She probably got a huge payoff behind the scenes, but I’m sure she’ll put it to good use.”
“It’s wonderful how she’ll do anything.”
“Basically any singer anywhere will do anything for money. Even Gaga.”

When did AKB48 ever say their work is art? And significant? Have you stepped foot in Japan since 2009? If you have then you'd have to be blind not to see how significant they are there. Japan is one of the only music industries left in the world that actually makes money from sales and to rule Japan for going on 4 years now, sales wise, is pretty damned significant. Like them or not, they took the Morning Musume 'group of idols' concept and exploded it into something Hello Project could never even dream of. The last American musical act to dominate the market as completely as they do is probably Kiss and that was in the 1970's.
At least in Gaga's case. In AKB88's case, I mean being significant to society in any way, as if they're any kind of positive influence.
To fix her image problem she should buy a bunch of cats and carry them everywhere and dress up as a cat,lots of people like cats.

Actually she is. Look up 'The Lady Is a Tramp' or her opening on SNL or various other performances. She's a great singer/musician who went to freaking Juilliard but due to our messed up world, she had to resort to playing the satirical character Lady Gaga to get anywhere because that is what sells.
Her voice is not that outstanding, she is a superstar but more due to her satirical character and not her music, more an "outstanding" fashioner and dresser than an outstanding musician.
Finally, Gaga as a pianist.. I give her that, but that is it.

It doesn't take a genius to make a catchy, addictive-like-crack song at all. It just takes market research and marketing/brainwashing (a la top 10s radio charts that get people to hear the same songs no less than 20 times a day while they're just working at their jobs), or a fucking youtube account. I've been screwed in the head by idiotic songs from a lot of lucky dumbasses out there. The only cure from that is to counter it with some actual music that came from the heart and soul.

I've seen her "real" stuff anyways and she's basic, not worthy of universal acclaim like she makes herself out to be. And there are actual artists out there that prove that you don't have to go to desperate measures to get recognized, they just settle for some amount of humble success rather than being record breakers and singing as super bowls.
And if she's just making one big elaborate joke with her style, then where's the punch-line? When do little girls stop taking her seriously and go, "oh I get it now, all that fucked up stuff we love about her is really just a satire!"

japanese music industy was pretty much dead as lest in terms of people paying for it before AKB48. AKB48 has totally turned that around with japan now spending and buying more physical CD/DVD than USA. AKB48 only claim..to make people feel good. No one know better than those in AKB48 that they not the best singers or dancers around or thier mainstream songs are anything but pop feel good songs {some of the songs they only sing in thier theaters are quite meaningful} after all they are IDOLs. But with the increase of sale of CD/DVD over the years they been around there also been a run off of $ allowing what you whould class as real singers to release their songs...and bottom line all singers sell themselves it is a 'job' after all.
