The sight of AKB48 girls cosplaying magical puellae at their latest handshaking event has been exciting fans of both, and eliciting plenty of vengeful comments from Madoka fans.
AKB48’s Amina Sato, SKE48’s Mai Takeuchi, NMB48’s Momoka Kinoshita and Mao Mita all for some reason chose to cosplay Puella Magi Madoka Magica, once again eliciting a fair amount of praise, and plenty of grumpy condemnation from anime otaku unhappy about mahou shoujo being so besmirched.

No, they weren't paid to cosplay. On handshake events, the girls usually do cosplay, and this is not the first time they do Madomagi cosplay.
Most of AKB idols really like enjoy anime. You guys shouldn't say shit without knowing them.
Everytime that there is a post related to AKB here, all the comments are from people who shouldn't even bother about then, but even so, judges them like they are whores. But you guys actually only do that because some creepy otaku (who are not less creepy than the ones that support AKB buying thousands of their singles) talk shit about them on 2ch. Do most of you even look at 2ch? There is a huge amount of threads created by AKB48 fans that talk about them in a positive way. Don't blame the idols for the marketing strategy that their producer use.

Yeah they're pretty and cute visually I'd give you that. But their music sucks big time.
I don't like all of their musics too, but they actually have some really good music aside the major singles. Really, AKB48 and the sister groups have HUNDREDS of music that aren't shown on the mainstream media.

Maybe the girls like anime and cosplay, maybe they are told to cosplay for publicity or whatever. No one can tell unless they personally know the girls.
We can be sure about one thing, though. If pretending to like cosplaying or some similar activity brings in more money, their management will very likely tell them to do so.

They weren't paid to cosplay, yet they were paid to be there and, according to your own statement, the expectation is that they usually cosplay? That doesn't add up. They may not have been explicitly paid extra to cosplay, but it's part of the job so it's the same thing.

I don't think 2ch is the place to go to find an accurate portrayal for or against anything. It's known to be full of trash, trolls, and extremists.

Why not? Every performer is absolutely responsible for every marketing strategy of their producer. If you disagree with what they are doing or believe they will do, then find a new producer (or go to or create another group). It's not easy, especially if what I hear about the industry is true, but just brushing it off as "the producer made her do it" or similar is a cop-out. Look at Aya - even if her claims about the weird things she did since the scandal were true, she's the one to hold accountable for it.
Enjoying cosplay and anime has nothing to do with what people criticize them for.

the problem isnt that if they are sluts or not, is the type of group and what they sell what it make bad everything, they are one of the worst thing in music, even justin bieber is more original that this group, they are like a group of fine cows that you show in a contest and that you change when someone look ugly, they arent singer, dancer or anything, any robot could do their job, damn even hatsune miku is more human that his group. AKB48 is not just a musical group. Idols aren't related just to music. It is about entertainment. They have tv show's, dramas, during their live performances they do a kind of conversation (called MC's), which is really fun.
AKB is like a school for those girls who want to become artists. A lot of them doesn't even want to do anything related to music. Some want to be CV, comedians, models, actresses, and they joins AKB to gain notoriety and develop their talents. Yeah, even if not all of then sing or dance really well, they are all ENTERTAINERS, not just musicians. Each girl has its own personality and talent. Even if at the begining they are weak at what they do, it's nice to see them evolve. That's the concept of AKB48. It is a group that is never complete. You can watch them grow.

Everything you have wrote I could agree though the girl who is cosplaying Akemi; is a newbie Enka singer (i.e. can really sing).
She's like one of the few exception at this shitty group.
Sato Amina (Mami) also can sing well. Kinoshita Momoka (Madoka) is pretty funny, and can be a comedian. Mita Mao(Sayaka)is an aspirant CV and did a great job i AKB0048.
