An RX-93 Gundam model which fetched ¥926,001 over 311 bids at auction has amazed gunpla otaku and commoners alike – most of whom seem to think it might be worth the price.

You can get professionally painted and assembled resin kits from guys like G-System for way cheaper. Under 2000 dollars and the kits are full of LEDs and metal parts. Most of their kits are bigger too - 1/72 scale. Search the net for their 1/72 Kshatriya for the ultimate in gunpla detailing.
I was about to say, you could easily scout someone to make a custom for well under that price.
it's not just painted and assembled, if you look closely at the pics , you'll see he modified many of the parts.
Engrish aside, I'm waiting to get a price check on this guy doing a 1/50 scale. It better be fully operable with scaled missles.
Shit this looks pretty badass. Worth $10,000? Maybe. I'd say anywhere from $1000-$5000 is more accurate but that's just me.

The value of the art heavily depends on who the actual artist is/was...
there are some prints (just authorized reproductions of the original) that are worth as much.. this is a bargain in comparison
Something IS only worth what someone will pay for it, PERIOD! If this was bought for 10K then 10K it is.
If you can get into the model and fly it, I doubt it'll cost just 10K.
I'm pretty sure an actual working gundam would cost in the realm of billions, not the tens of thousands.

Wow! It looks amazing! 10k is a lot of money for a plastic model, but for the amount work in detail and how it looks. Kudos to the artist cause that's what it is, art!

Manually customised, one-of-a-kind... these things are hard to name a "fair price". 10 months of work and the precision involved to make details in such a small piece aren't something to be ignored.
Before buying a KURATAS, this might be one of the coolest things a mecha fan could get.

Apparently as a 3rd world broke asian college kid, my college tuition fee as well as daily necessities that will last me the whole college is equated to a single gundam.

This was Yutaka Izubuchi's final crowning achievement as an Mecha designer before him rolling off this side & into being a management director like his recent work in the Awesome 'Space Battleship Yamato 2199'! We also can't ignore the other beyond belief Mecha designer Hajime Katoki of Stardust Memories & the incredible Gundam Sentinel Book that led to dozens of incredible toys in the early '00s!

Actually a normal salaryman's salary is about 3000-5000$/month. It took him 8 months to finish, don't know how many hours he spent on that.
