Violence and brutality are in high abundance in Unbreakable Machine Doll’s latest airing, stirring up plenty of drama involving grievous wounds and melancholic developments in place of the gratuitous service the show has also been delivering with some regularity…
Omake:

The idea is keeping me around. But god damn wtf is with Japs and school? I mean high school was fun but it wasn’t my life story.
Okay, gif 4 just gave me a seizure.

This series in general is so terribly broken its insane. It follow the Naruto sub-plot which is a never-ending story.
It does tell us that the ban-dolls are created with the flesh of the donor/victim & usually look exactly like the donor/victim. However NO past crap at all, except for the few segmented flashbacks that don’t really tell you anything.
Other than that, its a poorly constructed story which never answer even the most basic questions about what is happening within the plot – like answering a math problem w/o showing your work.
It gets so annoying because EVERY volume ends on some GD cliffhanger that’s totally predictable. It’s lame to say the least.
It’s an OK series if you can ignore all of that but it just reads like someone who just can’t keep a plot from falling apart unless it was all over the place from the start.
This plot needs MORE plot!
its common that LN writers/comic book writers are not professionally trained to write stories, just like how some artist are not trained but it doesn’t mean they can’t do it.
Curious, because they are basic questions for the story, I thought that after 12 vol (Light novel) vol 7 (manga) .. at least be explained ..
Another issue concerning what shoko answers in this episode about putting the parts in a living being.?!
Brain too? Or all functions are in mechanical heart like a parasite?
Perhaps for lack of new material some publishers are no longer demanding as before .. (a story with a beginning, middle and end well explained)
Anyway thanks for the info ..
The LN never explained any of that. Instead it only focused on the subject matter of the individual characters. I.E. the give/take/give relationship of Raishin & Yaya & how it lead up to the crap in vol 11 & 12, Raishin’s fights with Magnus, what the hell Shoko is, etc.
For this novel to bring up the subject of living flesh mech-dolls & downplay the specifics about them, yet have plot points that put those (unknown to the reader) specifics into play is just bad writing. Hell, they don’t even give us any specifics about the nature of the magic being used.
– but I guess not everything can be like Mahouka where EVERYTHING is explained to the T.
When I said ‘everything’ I meant everything we should know, not the crap no one cares about. Remember those are kids talking about random junk & adults reminiscing about old useless s♥♥t – if it explained “everything”, the novel would be the size of Britannica. Useless drivel MUCH! But they did include a great amount of useless drivel in that LN anyway. That’s still better than nothing.
This LN didn’t even bother to explain how the whole doll system works. They just told us the strengths & weaknesses of the doll & the 15 or so lines that they used to describe ban-dolls through 12 vols is lacking to say the least.
Mahouka doesn’t explain everything, just everything Tatsuya knows (which is a lot). Also, it tends to use incomplete references like the food crisis, WWIII and the like, which should be common knowledge in the LN but they are NOT for the reader. And also uses many “Nobody knows how it works” or “that’s jjust the way it is” just giving the reader some personal theories the characters make up. sometimes even cut off completeley what’s happening to give a long and uneeded (or misplaced) explanation, And those (and the unsolvable harem) are the reasons many people call Mahouka plainly boring.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Mahouka and knowing it would be made an anime made me very happy (even if I have no idea how the hell are they gonna do a faithful adaptation without breaking Monogatari’s narration records), but it’s not perfect. There’s no perfect LN, manga, anime, movie, etc, so it’s normal. It’s just different people forgive different mistakes.
-> Never answer any questions
-> Constantly ending on cliffhangers
-> Flashbacks that don’t really tell you anything
Shingeki no Kyojin? Oh wait, people like that anime. ‘-‘
At least Shingeki has a constant plot. This one tends to forget the plot every time Raishin is alone with a girl – or doll.
Shingeki had some atrocious Parts which dragged on for far too long.
Also like you said, there are so many confusing unexplained questions that the whole Anime is basicly a Cliffhanger and you are constantly asking yourself – WHAT THE f♥♥k IS GOING ON, WHO IS THAT AND WHY.
The problem is, they are adapting a novel and censoring out/cutting off most of the extremely important exposition bits. I.e. in this episode Raishin was supposed to be pissed off after seeing a giant freezer room filled with orphan children body parts – but it wasn’t shown at all.
It’s kinda funny they would censor that out, they only show his reaction to it. That part in the manga was pretty tame if you ask me. The LN has its major problems too, but talking about them is useless. The author really couldn’t keep his plot together & the anime is just making it worse.
Seriously? …Can’t expect much from the anime then I guess.
Although I don’t think Naruto is a good example since it’s tying up loose ends pretty well now…finally. And it actually seems it might end “soon”.
This is why I like moe anime though, there is no story that could fall apart.
In other words – best show this season!
Here’s someone who cannot tell the difference between exposition and plot.
Please note that a plot can fall apart if it has too much or too little exposition.
