Miura “Abandons Berserk for New Manga”

Berserk fans have been decrying Kentaro Miura’s decision to abandon Berserk yet again, this time to release an entirely new manga.
The all-new Miura-penned Gigantomakhia will begin serialisation in volume 23 of Young Animal, and is his first new work in 20 years.
The title itself is an “SF romance” set 100 million years in the future, but other than it boasting his gorgeous art few other details have emerged.
Although it marks yet another hiatus, Berserk is promised to resume after Makia finishes its 202 page serialisation – 6 volumes later.
Fans are not happy about this to say the least – although some are inclined to be more understanding:
“What is going to happen to Berserk!?”
“What the… not again.”
“He’s abandoned Berserk fans yet again, the bastard!”
“What is this guy playing at!”
“He’s just taking a break to freshen himself up.”
“It is necessary for these long-running mangaka to take a break with works of a different hue. But you take more than enough breaks, Miura…”
“We get that he wants to try something new. But he should at least make sure he sketches out its future.”
“He needs to make better use of assistants, he must have been stocking up this for ages in advance of its publication.”
“At least finish Berserk before starting new projects!”
“I expect Berserk will not be resuming in a timely fashion, he’ll be wanting to redraw vast sections of the Gigantomakhia tankobon…”
“It’ll be delayed until after the new IdolMaster…”
“This will be like what happened with Battle Angel Alita’s mangaka.”
“Pretty obvious the only part of the story Miura ever had thought out was until Griffith’s transformation.”
“Who would have thought over 10 years after the anime he’d still not have finished this?”
“I think the anime was the problem. With all the money he got from that he probably had no financial incentive to keep things going. I hope Shingeki doesn’t turn out like this!”
“It’s the beginning of the end. Berserk is stuck in a rut and after this finishes up in a year will die a quick death I’m thinking.”
“I read this manga after leaving it for 10 years thinking it would have advanced the story and I found it was still in the same damn place…”

Only comparable was Blade of the immortal, but that had it's stupid ending some time ago...

Every author has this block that when their rhythm is destroyed, they end up wandering on other stories that pops into their head. Just let him be until he wants to return to his old one.
I don't know what manga you're reading but after the anime's arc everything went down the crapper. It's like the guy is mixing up Perter Pan, Lords of the Rings and Super Sentai into a huge mass of fail.
I would have abandoned the manga too after ruining it like that. That shit can't be fixed. Doesn't even feels like Berserk anymore. More like some crappy shonnen copying Fairy Tail.
Don't read, spoilers below:
Griffith had a talked with "god" where he was told to be the chosen one to lead the human race to prosperity. He finally has his own nation, he was reincarnated as a human, the people love him, etc.
The world was transformed and now demons and humans coexist together (some in peace, other demons are still like animals). Guts is the only one with a grudge against Griffith at this point. This story is stuck. He fucked it up unless he pulls off a Naruto on us and all of a sudden they (Griffith and Guts) work together again to battle the God Hand demons or whatever.
Except this new Griffith and the God Hand guy the old Griffith turned into(?) are somehow two different characters.
How could it copy fairy tail when it came first? Also, magic is used sparingly in Berserk as only a few people use it.
For me the Golden Age arc was ok but I hated the fact that Casca kept bitchin' at Guts most of the time. The succeeding arcs were better for me since they added the more fantasy elements. Except the sea-god arc which I hated. :)

Also, how in the world did he fuck it up with the world transfiguration. It introduced made the world more interesting. I wanted to see how people would cope with monsters running a muck. This event reminded me of when Kefka became God and messed up the ff6 world. And they aren't stuck. They have a goal and are coming to it. And that scenario you gave in which he'd kishi it up is the only way he'd actually ruin it. :(
Yeah, I pray to god(hand^-^) that miura doesn't take any direction form kishimoto & naruto, that would be the worst possible decision.

Or route #3, which is similar to the real world, any man who sells his soul to the devil will only create temporary peace upon the backs of an entire people. He's fleshed it out pretty decently, Griffith creates fake peace, just like America and Europe. On the surface it looks like the world is doing better but reality can only be seen by walking the streets. Kind of like how white people think they brought about peace but in reality they were the ones who started the hatred and destruction

personally I think the author doesn't know how to finish the series
I, and several other Berserk fans that I know found this update to be more of as a blessing than anything else, as it is essentially also an announcement that he is intending to continue Berserk after it. With Miura's health issues, whatever they are, I didn't expect any more releases.
I don't think anything health related was ever confirmed and was just a rumour. The fact that Miura is known to be completely immune against contact with the outside world and interviews didn't help much with that. Considering this update, those rumours now sound more and more unlikely.
But I agree, this update is indeed a blessing.

Berserk lost it's way a LONG time ago. Hopefully after this little hiatus, it'll get back to it's intense story and not all this shit with fairies and magic.
High School of The Dead, Berserk, and Hunter X Hunter. If sickness is that big of a damn issue, why not cancel it? And don't give me "It is for the fans OR it is too successful to cancel" crap. You got long time fans growing older and not giving zero fcks about any of the new shit put out by the same manga artist.
Hopefully It won't become like Beet the Vandel Buster but who knows at this point. Gawd why did they just leave BTVB like that! But hasn't Berserk been seriously off course for a long time now. Nothings getting resolved.

I could see why. I mean, Berserk, as good as it is, features some very depressing, dark, and/or gory stuff. Year after year of that nonstop could break a man...

It all depends. If Miura manages a solid release schedule for this, I'm happy Berserk can continue solidly. he's going to have some work to complete Berserks next set of volumes. We just have Griffith's evil kingdom, and Elf-land > Falcona. I actually expect a minor Time-skip to happen when they reach Elf-land! At least a year! THATS WHAT I EXPECT.
