Korean “Tsunami” Offices Outrage Japanese

A new Seoul municipal office in the likeness of a “big wave” poised to crash down on the old Japanese colonial era city offices has provoked plenty of controversy in Japan, being condemned as “the ultimate expression of Korean tastelessness” and “a deliberate insult to tsunami victims.”
The former offices, now a public library, are a separate building but the juxtaposition of the two was apparently engineered for the purposes of political symbolism – although amongst Japanese there is a strong suspicion a rather more spiteful motive underpins the design:
“Sickening.”
“Koreans are geniuses when it comes to picking fights.”
“This country is nuts…”
“Quite funny really.”
“The design is pretty disturbing really, completely unsettling to see a building apparently poised to destroy another.”
“The design isn’t too bad, but the concept is utterly abominable.”
“How can anyone be expected to get along with a country which does stuff like this?”
“As expected of Korea.”
“The mass media can be relied on to completely ignore this stuff in favour of some awful Korean drama or music.”
“You’d think they’d get rid of the old one if they find it so offensive.”
“Reminds me of the ‘twin towers’ apartments they built…”
“Pretty sick…”

With this, korea has overtaken china in the " most tasteless" category.
Nope, the price still goes to Ishihara...
Hating on Korea and China proves your genuine weaboo patriotism.
Building a wave building to say fuck you to another country is pretty hc hate.
^what happened in your head, should stay in your head
twin-towers.jpg
^ Didn't you Murricans cry in outrage as well when this building was built?
Outrage? No. Incredulity? Sure.
I mean have you looked at the thing? It's like an elementary school art project made real.
@ anon 12:41 7/11/2013 Nope, I didn't, cuz I don't care, about a stupid building in a country i'm not living in. And the designer said it was supposed to be cloud not an explosion, either way it's ugly. Some may have cared, but in no way I believe they made that as a gesture, but I would believe that building is a tsunami, from the 4.5 years I spent in Korea.
Anon 12:41 asked for 'Murricans. You're not 'Murrican? Shut up.
i guess thats why china still exists... shut up.. i cant concentrate on my meditation about sexualized underage gurls
For crying out loud, they started construction on this building two years before the tsunami in Japan. What would you expect them to do? Demolish it and start over? Really, people need to stop reading into this sort of stuff. The apartment building was meant to look like clouds, and the city hall was designed to stay cooler then outside even without the A/C turned on. Six degrees celsius to be exact. That is a marvel in itself. Maybe Tokyo architects should be taking notes instead of complaining. I hear it gets pretty hot there in the summer.
lol wut.
Like we give a fuck/
Most offensive thing about this building is that it's ugly as fuck.
What I'm surprised is that they still haven't destroyed those Japanese Colonial Era offices. They have so much money and still can't demolish that building and put up new ones but they chose to leave a reminder of their vulnerability out there for decades lol. It's like having a statue of hitler in the middle of Israel.
Taiwan is much worse. Taipei is filled with tons of japanese colonial buildings. And not only that but Taiwanese even seem to be kinda grateful to Japan having improved their infrastructure, in contrast to Korea who are still resentful to this day (but also because Japan refuses to accept they did lots of atrocities with their colonies)
No shit people would be greatful if a foreign force actually helped the country. Instead of y'know; rape, pillage, bayonetting babies, commit human experimentation, have death marches and have polititicians that are voted in by it's nation flipping the bird onto victimised countries about it's war crimes.
Lemme point that out for you:
"And not only that but Taiwanese even seem to be kind of grateful to Japan having improved their infrastructure..."
Quote goes on but you literally said the ONE thing everyone here everyone knows.
I wonder if that building's unique shape will cause a noticeable heating issue when the reflective windows catch the sun.
So... This is a Korean building, IN Korea, but it used to be Japanese? Wow, Japanese people can really read their racism into anything.
Is it just me or does the comments seem more butthurt/troll than usual?
@Anon 20:30:
Yup, butthurt/troll comments > average.
Japan, just give up the whiny-bitch thing. It really is /NOT/ all about you.
I think the building looks interesting.
Ok Japan, time to get over yourself and stop playing the victim.
What victim card? Even if there aren't the victims, to design and approve of such building is so bitter and tasteless it really makes everyone question the moral of korea.
What moral? There are no morals....
Well, morality as in Korean still hate Japanese because of something occur 5 decades ago, when most of the victim/abuser already dead.
Which is idiotic.
Not it doesn't, it makes everyone questions why you stupid japs bitch so much.
Why are Nips such whiny bitches?
The Japan-Korea-China "Cold War" has to be one of the daftest ever. All three parties claim offence to virtually anything petty, while actual acts of aggression (or implicit threats) are ignored.
You have to admit it's pretty clever...
Well, to be honest, that looks like a visually amazing building
seriously whats your problem?!
do you have to make a fuss over every fucking thing on shitty disputes over two countries already on fire?
Easily provoked people are easily provoked...
So why provoking in first place?
just bcause i suppose?
For teh lulz.
So many racist dumb asses, on here it's either hate use/japan or hate korea/china or hate hate hate...but it's all hate. FUCK you and your HATE. HOPE YOU ALL GET EBOLA and that building comes crashing down on all you haters! but on a serious note, <3 that building.

Tsunami victims or not, that's really ugly design. Reminds me of some cheap plastic for holding office papers.
Insult aside it is a pretty nice design, very natural form.
So Korea, perhaps we should just tell you to deal with Kim by yourself then?
An empty self-righteous threat, Kim is crazy his South Korea obsession just keeps him from focusing elsewhere, other nations are against North Korea for their own good not for South Korea.
dat sum serious pro level trolling.
Everyone's assuming the construction of the building began with the sole purpose to antagonize...
Do we know when the go ahead for the dev of this building was given? Who designed it? years of planning? Otherwise the idea it's a tsunami replica taking out a bunch of yellow people is just hogwash. funny, but baseless.
I was standing in this building in December of last year, so no, I don't think they would have time to put it up just to antagonize the Japanese. It's actually quite a nice building inside. Everyone is acting like this is a new building, but it's been around for a while now. The only thing new here is the butthurt. hilarious.
Damn. I had drawn up blueprints for a building shaped like Gamera about to smash another building.
“Koreans are geniuses when it comes to picking fights.”<--- Real or trolling?
Honestly, I thought it looked creative but it really stands out amongst all those concrete buildings.
Btw, no1 can deny Fukushima is the End of Japan, sooner it will be the entire Ocean as well, and finally the whole Earth.
And yes, those are no question/doubt about it. 3 nuclear explosion from 3 reactors, ALL them pumped PLUTONIUM to the open air miles/km away, is a total apocalypse.
Blame the fucking incompetent governments and yakuza for it besides Tepco. RIP JAPAN! RIP ANIME (damn).
Congratulations on going full retard.
Unless somebody points out the "symbolism", It's just another building. People are thinking too hard on this one.
It's no different than when niggas cry racist over menial trivial things with little to no concrete evidence of.

In this case it's just the Japanese trying to play victim for the sake of playing victim. Nothing new really coming from Japan.
