Top idol management sim Idolmaster has been the center of attention recently, more so with the announcement of a new game for anxious producers to add to their collections, in the form of “Idolmaster: One For All” – set to be released on the Playstation 3 on an as yet undisclosed date.
13 idols and the inevitable mountain of DLC should keep fans happy, but the choice of the badly ageing PS3 as platform seems likely to prove something of a sticking point.

I guess more people have a PS3 than a PS4 which means that more people will be able to buy the game when it comes out.
>badly aging PS3
Hold on there. Lots of people have one, and isn't it early to talk about upgrading? Not enough games are out for ps4.
It's going to live for atleast 3 more years after the launch, I don't know what made it look like it's aging badly.
Though it'd be really nice to see iM@S on something with the kick to output at 1080p with some AA. If you've seen any of the OreImo HAPPY END imou-talk specials (which on further reflection, I doubt many have), the models look SO much better at a higher resolution. At least they did announce something in store for next gen.

Well he didn't actually say "The soon to die PS3", just that it is aged and looks it. And to anyone who doesn't play games only on consoles, it is a simple factual statement. The machine is 7 years old now. That is old, and the games look old.
To their credit, console devs always do an amazing job of really learning how to eek out every last bit of power from a late cycle console, but it's still plain as day to people who have been playing on up to date hardware. You learn to spot the shortcuts and the tricks they use.
Business wise, the smart thing for devs/publishers to do now is probably to release versions for both generation of platforms, provided it doesn't overly restrict the final game. That way you just know a lot of customers will end up buying both.
Because certainly the graphics for an idolmaster game would be faaaaaar to advanced for the PS3 to handle. And lots of Japanese gamers are looking SOOOOOOOOO forward to hardcore ultra-real PS4 graphics and that market isn't trending at all toward handheld anyway. So releasing the game on a console most Japanese gamers already own, rather then one the large majority of them will probably ignore until a much later date was an awful decision, surly.
Same idols as before, no Cinderella Girls? I'm not against more Imas, but it would have been nice to see a few make it in.
>badly aging PS3
PS4 HAS NO GAMES
if you still want obese people... then the otakus of new internet jersey are gonna gun u daaaawn
PS4 HAS NO GAEM. XBOX ONE11111
Hope they do a good job. As long as it has a HD video out i'm satisfied no matter where the IP goes.
It's pretty much obvious if you're a fan of Idolmaster that they won't even bother including the Cindarella Girls, they're trying very hard to make it a mobile game exclusive.
That sounds like cutting off your nose to spite your face. And Rin, Uzuki and Mio appeared in Shiny Festa.
"Appeared", as in just the voiceless characters represented by a the cards doesn't count.
As silly as it sounds it's the truth. Cinderella is already a very profitable Mobile game, why do they need give up that exclusivity.
I didn't say they had to put all 150 or however many there are now in the game, just it would have been nice to see a few of the more popular girls make the jump to the series proper.
Maybe it's just my personal bias because I hate how every single god damn anime and video game IP in Japan now has a tie-in card and/or mobile phone game (or two, like Idolmaster) and it feels like the companies put more effort into those than the originals because they're cheaper to make, devaluing the original product in the process.
>good journalism
>sancom
pick one
They've announced plans for a PS4 game too. It'll come out eventually. Japan's not even going to see the PS4 this year.
>badly ageing
PS4 have backwards compatability, albeit perverted and non-functional if you have no internets.
That's bullshit backward compatIbility is not in the PS4, at least not natively, and emulation is not announced

"Not sure if ironic, or utterly oblivious to the fact sony's machines aren't just killed on the spot every new generation".
Well its time for a future mech Idolmaster series, where they go back to the future and fight it out, music style, for world domination against the vocaloids, who are on the verge of becoming living beings.
Sadly, Namco doesn't wish to allow Americans to enjoy The Idolmaster. It's kinda uncool of them.
I have a feeling this will just be an Idolmaster 1 remake with Hibiki, Takane, and new Yukiho thrown in.
