Is this season is a spin off or sequel to Se1?
I read that IS 2 won't be relate to se1 but it seem to keep up from se1 after all (maybe not in plot but at least in the characters relationships)
I don't read the manga and don't know if the new season keep with it or if it a total new spin off/filler season

what a coincidence... i rarely read manga too.
(which doesnt mean that i dont like anime, tbh... just seems like reading the manga before seems to be a requirement).
but after reading your post again... it seems i cant clear your confusion at all.
It's a continuation that is very non sequitur. So all I would do if you have not seen season one is to look up the character profiles.
The two main girls so far this season (and I could not agree more) are Charlotte and Laura. There is also a new girl who I really like and is adding to the mix very well.
Don't expect a serious mecha or mecha musume type anime with plot. angst, or development. IS is about cute girls acting cute and trying to win over the guy. Enjoy it for that and a few good mecha scenes.
I really like the new Character, remind me of a mix between Ayanami and the girl from Ben-To.
Also love that most of the focus has been on Laura and Charlotte, The best 2!
Sen of Ben-To was the first thing I thought of, Rei only second, lol.
Damn, Ben-To was such an awesome show, really took me by surprise how good it was. Just seeing a look-alike character here makes me kind of interested in watching IS2. Hope her character is a bit more unique then the other cookie-cutter harem members.
