Outrage at Singer’s “Inadequate Miku Cosplay”

Chinese and Japanese Vocaloid fans alike have been outraged at a Chinese singer whose on-stage Hatsune Miku cosplay was “an insult to Miku fans” by way of its sheer sloppiness.
A September concert by Chinese songstress Moraynia (or Liu Xin) has been widely derided on Sina Weibo for donning an “inferior” Hatsune Miku outfit, with fans moaning that she was “insulting cosplay” and “not even trying to look like Miku.”

The fact that she apparently took only 4 minutes to change into the costume and even omitted the holy twintails “because they got in the way of the dancing” has them particularly annoyed:
“I cannot believe she omitted the twintails!”
“That isn’t Miku’s costume, and that isn’t Miku’s hair. What is this, Chinese Miku?”
“Just playing dress-up is not cosplay!”

I mean - people (including those actually knowing what they're talking about) keep saying how "this isn't Miku", so basically this is a hype about how "someone random" put on a "random costume"....and people scream "it's not Miku"? yeah, I don`t understand this. it`s not the case that just one detail is different, EVERYTHING is different. so now if someone uses an accessory in that color it is automatically labelled "a Miku cosplay"?!?

If I recall correctly, there are plenty of non twin-tails Miku designs out there that are immediately recognizable.

Hmmm, I dont know. It may be likely that her or her producer is a miku fan. However, except the color of her custom, I don't see anything like miku. Calling it a knock off is a bit over reacted. Like I said, Chinese knock off bunch of crap and we all know it. There are also some Chinese originated design that we omitted (on purpose or not). Such as the dual sim card smartphone exists long ago( approx more than 10 yrs) and the Chinese are the 1st designed and made them. Also the smart watch that can even make calls were made by them 8 yrs ago long before any stupid Samsung smart watch. They even wrote their own buggy OS with linux before any android device exist. Well, whatever, people will keep ignoring this and the next time a few Chinese dude rip something off and then all Chinese will be labeled as bunch of a holes only know how to copy like they have a choice of government and can force the office to do something about it. Chinese innovators also suffer badly and they are usually the 1st to get hit by this. As a Chinese engineer, I can say there are young innovative and enthusiastic people in China develops stuff that are out of totally new ideas. It is just the higher up are bunch of short sighted, fucked up money grabbing scums that undermining innovations and the true development of the country.
