Despair has gripped Shingeki no Kyojin’s legion of avid fans – the final episode reveals absolutely no prospect of a second season, movie or other continuation of the hit anime franchise.
With the manga ongoing there is still hope for an eventual continuation, and there has been some speculation that the only reason the second season is being held in abeyance is a lack of manga stock to work with.
A wry hint that all is not lost is provided in the end card – mercilessly parodying manga which get one of “those” endings after being canned:

Has Mikasa raped Eren yet?
She is just watching him from afar, occasionally sniffing his pants in secret.
Yes. Go check out the doujin.
Only anime-only fans are despairing. Everyone who read the manga knows there's not enough material for a second season and there won't be if it continues as a monthly release.
unfortunately the manga is also one huge clusterfuck of cliffhangers that the next anime will suffer the same fate. This go on for like, 3 seasons.
dealing is coined bad.
its associated with drugs.
and she has a fetish.
if you cannot comprehend this twist i will not help you any further.
or they could do a 52 episode season 2. Oh wait, only main stream shows actually get 30+ episodes, nevermind.
>Implying that SnK is not mainstream.
Don't know how popular Uchyuu Kyoudai is, but that is definitely over 50ep.
Deal with it guys he very much want's do something else.
You must be quite an individual.
@17:30
Plenty of "not mainstream" shows have longer than 30 episodes! In fact back 15~30 years ago over 30 was the norm.
History's Strongest Deciple Kenichi went for 50 episodes, and that was, maybe still is, relatively unknown, and it turned out alright.
SnK definitely isn't mainstream, although it is so good to a point where even retards can understand how awesome it is, maybe not entirely but you get the point.
Mainstream would be something like Justin Bieber, Twilight, Naruto, Bleach etc.
They could wait until the manga has ended before doing another season. I am sure that is what they are aiming for.
It's possible I suppose, but usually the anime is done as advertising for the original manga or LN. So unless the second season starts right after the end of the manga, it's unlikely to happen after it ends. This is why it's unlikely for spice and wolf to get a third season barring some kind millionaire paying for it out of pocket -- the LN series is done.
You know, sometime ago the mangaka told the manga would finish with 20 complete volumes, so
we just need to wait 3 or more years from now on, that way maybe we can get a second season though.
I wish they would release the anime monthly. I'd prefer it over waiting years for a sequel that may or may not ever happen.
OF course the Manga works, but I prefer the art in the anime and SNK had a great VA cast; Need moar yandere Mikasa, Marina Inoue as Armin, and potatoe girl.
If anyone even bothered to watch after the end credits, it was clearly left open that there WILL BE SECOND SEASON. Many animes have this feature now and seems like almost everyone missed the huge spoiler for the second season at the end. Watch after the ending theme, all will be revealed to you. Besides, the manga has now 4 (!) different versions plus novels running, so they are not going to run out of material, plus 4 games in the making. Start buying the manga now if you want more of it.
I'm wondering as well about this headline.
Of course there will be continuation, until the manga ends if it has to. Unless the studio hates money.
Yep, I figured this would be a good time to wrap things up and let the manga continue for a while so there's more material to work with. Next season will probably be in a year or so. I much prefer this to fillers or an anime original ending.
This.
I'd rather they wait till there are more materials to work with instead of making anime original fillers like what Railgun S does/did.
Well, I certainly don't want another Full Metal Alchemist situation, so I'm all for the wait.
you mean a 50 ep remake?
Yeah, that would be awful for those who watched the first series.
Well I actually meant that, as I heard it, the first TV show worked faster than the author, so they ended up making stuff up to make the show go on.
The Brotherhood being the more accurate manga follower.
The first one is kind of similar till the fith manga volume, then it's all completely made up. Wrath is not Wrath, Pride is not Pride, Sloth is not Sloth, the country that disappered was actually Central City, and then there's the soul-changing bodies thing. Even though some episodes are still made up before the series goes separate ways.
The problem is wanting to do animes with mangas that have monthly releases. Same thing with Sankarea or Ao no Exorcist, which mangas are still going.
The Brotherhood series is basically the same as the manga, in fact, in only ended a week or two after the manga's end. The only different things are de OVAs and episode 0 of the series.
You mean an anime that focuses on characterization, clever fights, and actually getting us invested in characters?
Can't have that.
Let's roll out the brotherhood style saturday morning cartoon villains. Where most enemies, save the final boss, get introduced and killed within five episodes.
Gotta have that michael bay direction where fights are about brute force and explosions and big animation budgets. Totally the better route :|
Both anime's endings shit the bed. But at least the original FMA was well put together for most of it.
The original FMA turned to shit on the second half, please.
I mean wow, sloth, greed, heck the majority of the evil-side cast was god-awful.
The Fuhrer died because his son's skull burned? What? That was never explained.(at all).
-----------------
The whole plot was just utter garbage for the original FMA. Don't even get me started on the alternate universe thing.
---------------
Sorry, but Brotherhood was just better, not only that it was the original story. Not some half-assed filler ending.
The Original Creator of FMA had an OUTLINE of the ENTIRE STORY that tied in EVERY chapter from start to finish of which Bones actually did in the Brotherhood series. Using only the mouse and a on-screen Keyboard to match your thinking speed, troll around now and find a story that was visually done (Harry Potter was allegedly outlined on a bar napkin but that was a book series)in the WORLD before deriding that ladies work. I suspect very few.
+
Once again: She planned & Drew the ENTIRE STORY of FMA and I was greatly amazed for it. Good people died early here as well as your "token villains" but the story progressed and never felt recycled. The original "best" series grabbed the drawn chapters and slammed in the producers ideas on how it'll all add up afterwards. In fact it actually felt more DBZ for it too!
Love the particular elitists coming out on this one. Both were fine, it's not like the world changed because of how they were presented.
I agree completely. I didn't even bother watching last few episodes of Brotherhood, as it felt as generic shounen as anime could get.
This is a type of anime that reminds me of the show Lost. Sure it's interesting and people like it a lot but I don't think the creator even knows where to go with it.
It will be nothing but cliffhangers / lack of info with fans wildly speculating about what they hope/think while giving it nothing but praise, waiting ages for more manga to come out and a second anime season just for him to wrap it up in a very disappointing fashion. (If it ever does see a conclusion)
what really annoys me is the key : Eren's been told it was of utmost importance and... he just ignored it. I'm curious to see how much artifices and flashback this will require to explain.
Sadly, your wrong as the Author already got everything planned out, all the way to the end.
He already announced quite a while ago that, the series is aiming to finish in 20 volumes.
So troll harder fool :)
You severely underestimate Isayama. There are clues throughout the manga and if pay close attention he practically tells you the identity of the colossal and armored titan.
It is said that Isayama already has the major plotlines already fleshed out. He is building up the mystery and is set for a big failure if he can't deliver.
No, Limbo is correct. Almost 50 issues in and very few reveals but tons and tons of hanging info & wtf moments. You can re-read every frame of the manga and there aren't hidden reveals on any of the big questions either. In fact every time the manga starts steering itself towards answering ANYTHING, it ends up with 3-7 new 'mysteries' instead (and more dead scouting legions members!).
SnK certainly has the range to be really outstanding but it could also be a colossal fuck-up all depending on the reveals. The way the series teases at unveiling something unknown and then pulls back and devolves into cheap action and all the characters forgetting what they were doing either means that SnK is a long play or that the author is fucking lost.
Very few? You know what "few" stands for right?
So no, there isn't "very few" reveals so far, and do you really want a revelation every chapter or something?
Your just as troll or a fool, who don't understand the mystery genre.
Nah. You are too dumb to look for clues. You are the type that needs everything to be spelled out and spoon fed for you.
I agree with their decision of not going for second season. Not enough 'good' material to work with = bad fillers being shown, and it will drive away the series' fans. They say that good things come to those with patience.
i do not even know how you want to make fillers for SnK. you cannot make anime only missions for the survey corps, since they always have to prove that the unit is worth keeping. there is nothing they can do inside the walls either. introducing anime only titan shifters is not possible either
They do have fillers though, but those are for expanding upon the overall theme of the series i.e. their mortality and the idea that they could die any time.
YES SANCOM. THE ANIME STUDIO THAT MAKES SNK HATE MONEY. THEY HATE MONEY BIG TIME. THERE'S NO WAY THEY WILL MAKE A 2ND SEASON.
wait...
*thinks for a while*
This is a troll post isn't it? Not only was that episode hardly anything less of a cliffhanger than the rest, completely failing to give any of the major sub-plots a proper resolution, but Wikipedia says there is a movie in production. I'd believe it's a season finale, but as a series finale I have serious doubts.
And come on, nobody hates money that much. Isn't Attack on Titan more profitable than One Piece right now?
But, what about the armored and colossal titans? There has to be a 2nd season, and the ape titan too? How is there not enough material for a possible 2nd season already?
because the manga is at chapter 49 the last episode of the anime ends in the middle of chapter 34. lengthing the fights that happen in the next chapters after the anime ended (which i hope they do because they go by way too fast) you could probably get 10-15 episodes. that means there needs to be material for atleast 10 more episodes to make a second season.
This is such a non-story it's not even funny. Even someone who hasn't read the manga should realize that there isn't enough material yet for a second season, and it's also painfully obvious that the full intent of everyone involved is to make a second season once there is.
Sankaku Complex = too fat (as usual)
Are you watched by ass?
so....am I the only one who watched after the end of the credits? looked like s teaser for the 2nd season if I ever saw one....
Apparently no one watched the final 5-10 seconds of the final. If you watch it you will realize that they left something to indicate a second season.
Don't worry. Sankaku is just being scandalous as always and trying to provoke a reaction.
yeah artefacts gotta get those page views somehow, and this is the easiest way.
Well they did the same thing with High School of the Dead, but did we get 2nd Season after 4 years. **** No!
