International OreImo fans have been outraged by the gall of the latest Kickstarting beggar to appear, after he was caught shamelessly ripping off artwork in the most blatant manner possible from everything from Ore no Imouto to Senran Kagura…
For once 2ch was beaten to the forensic comparison by overseas fans, who seem none too happy about matters:
Whether by being so flagrant as to pick cover art from a best-selling light novel there was either subtle marketing genius or utter idiocy at play looks likely to remain a mystery – the project has since been quietly cancelled, though without any apparent public admission of guilt:

Sorry guys we've had to temp cancel funding, one of the artists we used was using artwork based on another manga - although it was different, it still looked very similar. So we have decided to pause the funding until the artist can be replaced.

People like Rob Liefeld could have gotten ripping off anime due to the lack of internet exposure of what he was taken ideas from. Today because the internet and anime knowledge is so well integrated, you'll have to be pretty stupid to pull this type of stuff now.

There ought to be more outrage over low quality art kickstarters that rake in tens of thousands of dollars. There are some really terrible ones out there.
Another thing semi-related. There's vocal minority who really wants Japan to make another show like Cowboy Bebop. To them I say gather up the talent and create your own comic/show.

Assuming this is true he's got a problem considering that all of the kickstarters to his name has copied art.

I think his move to apologize on his nation behalf for one of his kind plagiarizer is good one, showing that at least he will actively discourage this sort of behavior when he is hanging around with his countryman.
I hate to say that but I don't see people saying something like this when a post is regarding to some Chinese was doing rip off. There are a lot of stuff that the Chinese had done first and people simply had forgotten or don't even know. (for instance, dual sim cellphones can be found in China since 2000). I am not trying to drag the discussion to Chinese ripping off stuff but I just couldn't help not to mention it when I saw you got +0.2 up vote. I think this is an incorrect thought. I mean, what would be of us if they had told Japs that "Animation is for westerners like Disney only". Innovation is always good, but this isn't it.
Well there's a big difference between being inspired by someone else work and adopting some aspects of it's style like Osamu Tezuka did with Disney and out right tracing art and slightly altering it.
Osamu's style though influenced by Disney had it's own unique style.

The problem is, can you name any other western cartoons/comics done in an anime/manga style that are also good? (Legend Of Korra doesn't count; while it also is undeniably great, it's the sequel to Last Airbender)

But you're right, most of anime-manga content made by westerners is rubbish, because they make ordinary comics with only bigger eyes than usual (and usually even lower budget than Marvel comics, read- almost zero), not changing behaviour of characters, style of drawing and colouring (or, like here, just steal everything) or story. Because most westerners think the other way than asians.
Comic book culture is way different in countries which never known CCA. That was the reason why DC imported english comic book writers because their own authors simply couldn't think outside family friendly superhero comics or 4 panel newspaper comics.
Ive heard from 2 German Girls who created a pretty good looking Manga tho.. Well, in the end it all depends on your Style and if people like it.
ONLY Japanese. Koreans don't make real anime/manga unless they're surrounded by Japanese culture. Copycat Korean culture of Japanese, does not count.

Its better to let other race to learn from the currently on the top Japanese and Korean animator on how to make a better animation.
Some of the key different is the detail, I notice Japanese anime have much more detail than the other cartoon, and the other point is to have patient, which required to draw thousand of picture for a one minutes of smoothly done anime.
Voice acting also superior in Japanese part, they even have class dedicated for VA. The other country's animator might want to fix that, and make their cartoon more expressible through voice work.

NONE of the true anime-designed books are translated. I have to order mine overseas. The anime has actual porportions where the face and mouth goes.
Westerns/Gaijan just make the eyes and face float everywhere, they don't use the right shading, and their always scared to show skin or saucy scenes. That's why they suck ass. That is why the artwork is always ugly as fuck.

Most of the time when there's a fight scene in Boondocks, it's ridiculous anyway, like they're going "ok, crazy anime fight! lol"
