I really hate that they redrew the characters facial features to be 'smaller'. I believe the TV airing did a good job transferring and beefing up the manga style by keeping the features small eyed, long or large noses, and even giving them defined lips. It also made everyone appear different from the usual anime characters.
What they should have focused on was the frame rate and clearing up errors.
A colossal upgrade.
A titanic upgrade.
My heart will go on.
Indeed what is seen lately are only as regards saturation color, rarely cosmetic ..
In some screens can even be considered as a quality movie ..

This will be a version that is worth having in a collection ..
Smaller eyes have more impact, not digging the new moe eyes, they are crap. smaller ones looked mroe intense.
I agree, not sure why they would do that to the more dramatic scenes....

The expressions are really bland in the BD release, I wouldn't call that an improvement.
Why do you hate AoT so much? Because it doesn't have moe girls everywhere and absolutely no fan service? Recognize a good story when you see one.

This is actually pretty cool, HOWEVER how about replacing those still images first?
Most of the changes are so minimal, most people won't even notice any them, but adding some actuall animation would be pretty fucking great.

Wow so the new ase of BD magic with the BD version over all looking more bland strikes again.
I am actually quite content about this.
Some of those changes are rather silly (decreased breast-size, etc.)but overall this is rather appreciated in light of those outrageous Japanese BD prices.

Honesty aside from the reduction fiasco, I want to see where the Hell is a shot of that females abs come from! Seriously there be more beefcakes (naked titans) than there is is pun-tang~ Yes I've seen all those Otaku drawings, but where the fuck is an official one? There aint one in this Anime
I was wondering as well. I've seen some fan art of Mikasa with ripped abs, but have not seen any official art depicting this buffness. Personally, I think the fan art abs were too butch for me.
It's out there...just it has been over shadowed by fan created ones.

In SnK volumes, the artist threw in extra artwork like having the girls dress up in idol outfits and what-if designs if other characters had titans form. For Mikasa, he drew this idol look for her.

I like how the metal was refined, looks like they used some textures on it and some facial expressions are a lot better imo, not so bad for a BD.
I thought the same thing...the work they did on the blades makes the difference...

Not the retouching really. More the releasing a TV show on disk before the season is even done airing on TV?
they would have to be sold for a lot less than what japan sells them for to be viable.
You really can't touch up live action movies, they need to be reshot bro.
Besides even a slight change in any of the scenes could make seem more fake than it should like some scene in Lord of the Rings Trilogy not much can be done I'm afraid.
not reshot, movies shot on film have the equivalent quality of around 8mp if not more, they need to be re digitized but not really touched up.
That was in ancient times, now you can postproduce ANITHING in an alrady filmed scene, wether it be smoke, particles, more blood, better skyes, clouds, lighting schemes, more characters
Cartoons don't get quite the same followings as Anime (mainly in that most of the audience is kids who couldn't care less about buying a disk)
I was expecting even more gore.. But all I get from these comparisons is different lightning really.

Looks like they did not lock on an art style in the first few episodes and are going back and "fixing" the faces...
Am I the only one who prefers the old Mikasa and old Eren? Mikasa with smaller and more serious eyes looked better. And the flashback of child Eren looked so much better than what they changed it to :(
It doesn't really matter, the anime still plainly sucks however improved the BD animation-wise.
the tv darkened shots reminds me of how Symphogear G keeps randomly darkening every fight scene
Still trying to remove Mikasa's makeup AND making her look like a woman, I see...
Instead of wasting resources on this negligible changes they could draw an extra episode or spend more time working on producing.
You'll regret your words when it's time for the BD release of the latter episodes, where there were scenes that weren't finished. And where existing awesome fight scenes will be made even more awesome.
.. but the season is done next episode! Do you seriously believe they start drawing the next episode when the current episode airs?
