A British preacher has been arrested for groping a young Japanese woman on a train.
According to reports, a 48-year-old British pastor was on board a train in Shiga prefecture one afternoon.
Over the course of 25 minutes he took a seat next to a 22-year-old office worker, groping her legs and breasts for the duration of his trip.
Both got off at the same station, where the woman reported him to staff who in turn summoned the police.
The good preacher maintains his innocence, saying he “may have touched her but it wasn’t deliberate.”
As his name was reported, online investigators quickly identified him as a member of the Sekai Fukuin Dendoudan (“World Gospel Mission”), a prostestant missionary church based in Shiga and the surrounding prefectures, originally founded by British missionaries in 1950 for the purposes of converting the heathen Japanese.
