The director of a Kyoto-based anime company has been arrested for having a schoolgirl engage in lewd and lascivious cosplay so he could sate his photographic urges.
According to police, a 50-year-old director of an “anime advertising firm” based in Kyoto used met a 17-year-old high school girl on a cosplay site.
Exploiting her interest in cosplay, he invited her to a private cosplay shoot, luring her out with the lie that “I rented a studio and another girl is coming.”
He managed to get her to an Osaka hotel, where he had her wear a costume and then took 520 “obscene” photographs of her in what must have been some at times very partial cosplay, along with 11 videos.
Police have charged him with child pornography related offences due to the nature of the photographs he took.
The suspect concedes he undertook the shoot, but that he “thought she was over 18” and that he “doesn’t want to talk about what we did.”
Police are also investigating whether he had been engaged in the same sort of antics with other girls after finding a large number of similar images on his computer.
The incident apparently came to light the month after the shoot itself, when the girl and her parents approached police.
