Atelier fans have been delighted by the surprise announcement of New Atelier Rorona, a remake/”renewal” of the first game of the Atelier Arland RPG series, Gust having decided it deserved more than a mere handheld port.
While possessing the same alchemical gameplay of the rest of the series, Atelier Rorona was the odd game in the trilogy with its cartoonish 3D-art style, strange battle gameplay, and flawed time management system, so the news that it will be both “renewed” and “tweaked” should be well received.
They have even dragged back Kishida Mel to supervise the 3D models and make sure they accurately match up to the quality of his art this time:
Whilst not everything is revealed yet, there is mention of more playable characters and events among other content additions. There also will be PS3 and Vita cross-compatibility and bonuses for saves from the Vita versions of Atelier Totori and Meruru.
The game is due to be released in November in Japan for both the PS3 and PS Vita.

There's a days counter in those pics...
Time limits killed my enjoyment in the original - i already think that i won't buy this...
Are we sure those screenshots are from the remake? It sounds early for them to be releasing those, and Sankaku is well known for re-using images that aren't necessarily from what they're talking about as long as they're 'relevant'.
moedified
Still really wish they'd improve the environments, though.
Please remove Sterk
A remake of a game that came out less than a decade ago. Congratulations on becoming a second Nintendo. Ugghhh
it seriously needed it tho ... for many people it was enjoyable , but for me it just wasn't playable ...
the only game in the trilogy i wasn't able to finish .
The one game i dont have in the trilogy. Now I can complete it!

So, do these play like the Atelier game on the nds? Becuase I hated how shitty the combt area's were, so tiny and other than gathering materials you didn;t really need to go there. I much prefer how Mana Khemia did it, with large dungeons and such. Are the ps3 Atelier games more like Mana Khemia? or more like Atelier Anne: Alchemists of sera island? if its more like the nds version I'll probally not bother with them.
Khemia and the Iris games were actually the odd ones out. Before those two sub-series, all the games were like NDS ones, and the Arland Trilogy and Dusk series plays more towards the classics as well.
So yes, Rorona to Eschatology's gameplay revolves more around gathering and synthesis. But really though, not many people the Atelier series for the gameplay or story tbh, its all about character interaction and making you care what happens to the main character.
Only one thing to say...
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
ABOUT DAMN TIME!
Id buy it ;O
So how old is Rorona in this one?
14.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY.......... whatever, i don't have money :(
sell your kidney then
or your name.
The best game on PS3, the Arland series... I'll import this ASAP and play Rorona for the fifth time.
The one Atelier Arland series game that I paid $25 for (used condition) is getting a remake, and now I feel like I've been ripped off.
Yes, I received what I paid for, but now I feel obligated to buy the better version.
the only thing you did was rip off the actual developers by buying a used copy
Thanks for acknowledging that used game sales rip off developers. After that Xbone controversy, it's clear everyone who is not in the industry does not give a damn about who's (not) getting paid, as long as they get a $5 to $15 discount.
I would have gotten it new, but I couldn't find it new at that time at MSRP. ("New" was marked up to something like $80-$120 USD)
Remove Sterk and this game will be perfect!
What happened to Hidari, did he upset too many otakus by drawing bishonens?
No; the latest title has been VERY well received in terms of character design of the main female character (whose name slips off my mind).
This is a remake of Atelier Rorona... it would cost a lot more to remake even the art. Plus, the Arland series were all drawn by Kishida Mel, changing that would not only anger the fans but make no sense.
Another one? All these Atelier games look the same.
So... The Japanese equivalent of Call of Duty?
because i am a friendly person, I WILL ignore this "question".
No, at least the Atelier games change SOME stuff with each instalment.
Gust should remake all Atelier / Mana Khemia which is still 2D into 3D especially Atelier Iris and Mana Khemia. My bank is ready to buy them.
Mana Khemia is my favorite *-*, i really want a remake.
Me too. I've just finished Rorona and now playing Totori but I have to say Mana Khemia has better combat system.
Personally, I liked their 2D games more than their 3D ones, combat especially. Atelier Iris 2 was so good :O
