It´s not bad at all, but i miss the old Rozen Maiden draw style and the chapters with pure humour, like the one were Suiseiseki confronts Jun and Hinaichigo, i think it´s name is "Stairs" (never laughed that much with those "desu´s"). And also miss the old Suigintou personality and history, one of those few times were i find the anime version better than the manga version.
Leave that memory behind, because the 2nd series is much more serious. The humor didn't change though, just the quantity.

Seconding that Free! is actually really good. If you disagree, you probably haven't actually watched it and just took one look at the posters and ran away. If you want to go complain about fanservice and pandering, go whine in one of the Queen's Blade posts (not that there is anything wrong with Queen's Blade.. it's just that with all the actual fanservice shows out there, calling Free nothing but fanservice is ridiculous).
That said, I have not watched Rosen Maiden yet but the animation looks like it crawled out of 2009...
