Genshiken’s massively delayed resurrection has finally been broadcast, and features plenty of creepy otaku and rotten fujoshi action, along with the now passée addition of an otoko-no-ko.
All characters have new seiyuu voices. Luckily most of them are good, but Ohno`s new voice needs time to get used to, though Yukana is normally very good seiyuu veteran.
Ayako Kawasumi is hard to replace.
It got to me at first, but by the end of the episode I didn't mind it so much.
Kuchiki for example was great with the incredibly annoying voice/delivery, but it's also kind of refreshing almost to let him have an actual voice even if it's the "Steve Blum of japan" (Fukuyama Jun) doing it..
Oono's is a bit harsher since Kawasumi was great and really brought home the:
I find that most humans have absolutely terrible memory. I don't know how they manage to function on a daily basis with such terrible memory capacity. It's really very sad.
No we dont actually remember them, but sure as hell instantly notice if they change them, the mind is weird like that, matter of fact 99% of the people wont even recognize them out of context
As much as I like this fujoshi route, I can understand people who don't enjoy it.
The way women and men otaku show enthusiasm for anime is pretty different.
It's not worth hating fujoshi just because they like BL and not buying BDs.
kay... I'm superbly delighted that they are continuing the series, seeing that the first two seasons were some of my top favorite shows.
HOWEVER. Is there a particular reason they decided to change practically all of the voices? I mean, anime are usually good with getting seiyuus to reprise their roles, so the lack of any returning cast members is not only disappointing, it's devastating - especially for some of the previous cast members with very distinctive voices (Kuchiki's high vioce, Saki's... well Chidori/Nenene voice, etc...)
This is going to take a long, long, long time to get used to...
Also, for some reason, the feel of this first episode is very un-genshiken. Call me a change-hater, but honestly, I think this first episode failed to capture the laid back, quiet and slow moving atmosphere that the first two seasons did remarkably well. I mean, I doubt there was a silent scene in there at all...
So many changes in the new series. New Design, new VC, change from otaku to fujoshi. Well at least they are finally directly referencing real anime which was sadly the best part of the first ep.
I watched the first 2 seasons for entertainment value, the otaku stuff was just gravy. The 3rd season so far is still entertaining (if it keeps following the manga to some degree), fujoshi stuff notwithstanding. Giving this it still appears to follow the main focus of the 1st 2 seasons so I'm still going to probably immensely enjoy it.
This was probably the best adaptation, visually, of the manga yet. Too bad the voice cast changes just completely ruined it for me, not hearing Nobuyuki Hiyama voicing Madarame felt so wrong.
It's always been that way, lol... You must not have read the scene where Kasukabe asks Ohno to add to the discussion and she blurts out [http://komica41.dreamhosters.com/pix/img11641.jpg] "There's no such thing as a woman who hates homos!" It was pretty funny, since it was as inappropriate as it sounds.
Final Fantasy VI also had giant mechs and mounted guns. Hell, FF VIII's protagonist literally uses a GUNblade.
You guys are just scrapping the bottom of... More
No comments on the alarming number of new voices for old characters?
What I want to know is WHY.
New studio has taken over doing Genshiken, they have their own seiyuu herd.
Haha herd, like seiyuu are some kind of untermencsh live stock.
I would've questioned it, if it was just one or two new ones, but they replaced all the old ones.

Ohno's voice is horrible.
It got to me at first, but by the end of the episode I didn't mind it so much.

"You broke her model!?!?! You son of a bitch!!!"
feelings always, lol.
I’m surprised people still remember 7 years old voices… I barely remember anything about the originals.
Mate, you must have a pretty bad Memory.
For example, even i remember the voices from like all the Animes i have watched.
I find that most humans have absolutely terrible memory. I don't know how they manage to function on a daily basis with such terrible memory capacity. It's really very sad.

It sticks to our memory on its own. And besides, the voice is a big part of the character itself...
The diehardjagged is an untermensch bragging about lies, he basically said "for example even i am more talented than most"
You guys do know that if you remembered absolutely everything you wouldn't be able to function properly.
Why waste time memorizing small details that have no bearing on anything in your life?
Anime and VAs aren't fond memories or old friends, save your brain for those things. When you start losing your memory, you'll be glad you did.
While I'll enjoy this season, the new cast sure is abit bonkers for good or for worse. Fukuyama Jun playing Kuchiki, nuff said o.o
Oh... my... GOD!!! At long last! A new Genshiken!!!
And Bakemonogatari makes it double, ultimate WIN!!!
As much as I like this fujoshi route, I can understand people who don't enjoy it.

Meh.
Still wishing that they continue the original Kujibiki Unbalanced
Thanks, I thought I was the only one who enjoyed Kujibiki.
Nope, I liked Kujibiki as well. That's how I go on to Genshiken.

I've never actually seen such a fat female character in the main cast. Not that I'd care to either, but anyway, took me by surprise.
Yamacchi not FAT.. she's just big boned!
Aunt Petunia?
Now you're splitting hairs.
I like Yajima, she has a lot of character! And ability to check who is the real man, you will se it in next episode!
for a second I though that was Daru
fatties, in MY animu?
who CARes?
are you ^^ hurt? ^^
Fatass^
Dat barbarian girl >:3
It's fun until you realize it becomes about a cross realize faggot.
Sena Akagi would fit in without a problem.
So Sankaku won't follow Watamotte news?
Probably not because there's no tits to post, and most of the fans on here are fail as you can see..
"What are you a girl??" - 13 year old boy
But it have a delicious flat chest perv!
I was being sarcastic :P
what are you a girl?
A guy with a fetish for embarassed girls?
been wondering the same

This anime seasob follows the manga quite exactly.
Is not otaku stuff just enrertaining?
bad spelling: it should be ENTERTAINING.
Spelling...oh drat.
This was probably the best adaptation, visually, of the manga yet. Too bad the voice cast changes just completely ruined it for me, not hearing Nobuyuki Hiyama voicing Madarame felt so wrong.
The new designs leave me in the neutral position, but the best part for me were those Bakemonogatari parody scenes.
Beat Genshiken- you play for the other team now. You're no longer friend. Can't wait to see the sales on this DVD - why did they even bother

Interestingly enough, I remember that, too. I fell out of my chair laughing at that line.
This was a nice trip down memory lane.
