    That is a proper remake. Instead of just upscale the animation, they even redraw the anime for good.

    Hardly, Yamato 2199 was entirely reimagined from the ground up. From the directing to animation to the cast, everything is different.

    All Bandai did was recreate & redraw scenes which could not be saved because the source was digitally drawn in 4:3 720x480. A number of scenes even mirror the DVD, frame per frame, with the addition of additional animation filling the 16:9 frame.

    Even Legend of the Galactic Heroes is closer to a remake that the remastered Gundam SEED, as it was entirely redrawn for DVD/Bluray. For whatever reason they choose to redraw the whole thing digitally instead of digitally capturing the aging 16mm (most likely) film it was captured on.

    Bout time Bandai starts remastering digital animation properly. I feel sorry for all the poor schmucks that paid for their line filtered DVD upscales. Especially the ones that bought Blue Sub Six, that upscale was a disgrace.

    Specially considering that Seed Destiny received a huge amount of critics back then again it's animation quality (they abused a lot of scenes reusing, for example)

    That top pic was just the tip of the iceberg for GSD. Those Gundam fights were on a whole different scale of horrible. I'll give my thanks in advanced for being able to finally delete this abomination of my HD - Bring on the BDs.

    and someone correct me if i'm wrong but i think they also redid the voice acting .

    (same actor, but some part sound off ... mostly cagali's acting and the tone of stellar voice , of course my memory could just be playing trick on me ... )

    lets be honest here, some things are timeless in their animation. if they were remade they would more or less lose a shit ton of the charm, the reason i dont get the blu ray of many things that are classic is how abused the re master is, in instances the dvd release... laser disc or vhs/beta has a sharper image quality.

    hell i was pissed at the thing blu ray, because the hd-dvd didn't get the processing.

    and lets be clear, i don't mean an upscale, i mean recapturing from the source into a higher resolution.

    with that said, look at the original image, and the remake... the originals animation doesn't warrant a remaster, let alone an upscale.

    actually i'm ok with readrawed scenes. What i really hate is when they kinda want to redraw a scene, but don't want to go to the process...so they use CG (like in gits 1995 remake). It's AWFUL when they do this

    i honestly hate it more when they decided to process the scene so much that on the bluray it looks like everything is slightly out of focus because they wanted to kill the film grain.

    Anyone who even thinks this kiddy shit qualifies for anything other than trash is really, really, pathetic.

    I heard the director's wife who wrote the storyline has 'cancer' that canceled the movie. Many people think she's just too humiliated by the pathetic writing to even think about touching it again.

    The original looks weird with the way the skirt and legs are... the redraw hm... a bit too much pantsu compared to the original.
    And I don't like the dark blue colour. If it's a sukumizu ok, but as regular pantsu meh, too dark.

    Holy shit... I firmly hate Seed Destiny it was everything that was wrong with Seed... but I may actually have to give this a watch because God DAMN they actually did a good job making an HD remaster for the first time in anime history.

    But you are right. Its manditory for any anime to have some sort of fanservice at this point. A bit grating when you just want a show with character and story. "Heres 10 minutes of vapid 'humor' we ripped off from half a dozen other shows and another 5 minutes of underaged girls' butts. Oh and maybe 7 minutes of actual story."

    Yes, Destiny IS good. While Seed made itself a much worsened version of the first Gundam, Destiny was able to have a degree of originality that actually improves the premises it borrowed from Zeta. Might not be a masterpiece, but it's good. Seed had some nice ideas, but most of them are irritatingly underdeveloped.

    Anyway, I guess this isn't the place to talk about this, I don't wanna be eaten alive by the SanCom's Type B otaku.
