After much teasing, Sony’s PlayStation 4 has finally been unveiled, leading to such high praise as “at least it looks better than the Xbox One,” although in fairness most seem reasonably pleased with it.
Apart from more of the tedious claptrap about American TV which both MS and Sony are now apparently obsessed with, Sony has also unveiled plenty of blockbuster titles – and offered a surprisingly strong focus on indie games, quite unlike Microsoft.

But jokes aside. The reason I own a PC and a console is pretty simple. Pc is more powerful and Pc is PERSONAL. I like to keep my porn and shit for myself and in my opinion PC is the best single player platform.
On the other hand I like playing PS3 when I go to my friends place or they comes over to my place.
I can take a games with me and play them with my friends. Sit on the couch and drink some beer or something.
There is no arguing PC's are more flexible and way more powerful. But I cannot imagine myself carrying whole pc to my friends place (expect for LAN parties) when I can take one relatively small box and couple of cords with me.
I think it is just stupid to fight about this subject at all. Both are completely different kind of experience.
It doesn't matter which platform is better.
Hell, I play playstation 1 sometimes and I don't compare it to anything else 'cause PS1 is an experience on it's own.
Point being I know it for a fact that PC is in many ways better than console but i just fucking love the experience they both deliver.
And i don't see problem with that.

PC suck when it comes to gaming, need 3x the power to run the same games, system cost way more, every passing year requires more time in the options screen finding stable settings, Mulitplayer sucks to set up if you have real life friends come over, a tiny selection of blockbuster games make it to pc, mostly badly done ports with poor mouse implementation, if mouse support at all.
None of these are really the pc's fault except the price of the system, but if the developers dont care about your platform, it doesnt matter how powerful it is, it still loses.
Why anyone would want to spend the cash to get a gaming pc, only to get 2-3 games a year worth playing is beyond me.
On the contrary, i've been playing games at 1080 for over 4 years with the same old rig and it just works fine, whereas this gen consoles have to soft scale games down to 720 and still get stutters/slowdowns (cue Dark Souls).
About spending time in the settings menu. Hey, most console games would profit from such menus. I would certainly tone down some things in favor of better fps.

sony makers actually went to the games designers and ASKED THEM what they want in a console to make they're games better.. can you see Microsoft doing this? lol
Microsoft kinda already has this thing that does that called a PC.
remember, the only well known game in Xbox is Halo so don't bother asking why Microsoft didn't ask the gaming companies.
Xbox doesn't need well known games, MS pays for delays in DLCs for 6 months up to a full year of PS games. For example, GTAIV DLC, Fallout New Vegas DLCs, etc... and from what I've read, they pay to have PS games graphics lowered
Either of those two next-gen console will have about the same image quality. From polygon count for any game titles they share to AA settings, and also textures. The only thing separates them, hardware wise, the PS4 version would very likely had lesser hiccups that X1.

Whats the point having far stronger hardware wise against X1, when all their games will be similar and as ground rule, games always made on weaker hardware then ported to the better one.
Even if PS4 have GTX Titan, it still have a muddy texture Skyrim because X1 will drag the graphic down.
Only the price will go up with better spec, but the games itself only get slightly better.
Sound more wiser to keep the hardware similar, and move the focus on the exclusive games and entertainment part to make their console look better than competitor.
PC is not a property of MS. They don't recieve any licence fees etc. from anyone, they only provide the most popular OS but there are still others.
Also while the PC is an open platform, that doesn't make it easy to develop for since the hardware specs differ widely.

Because developers do not want to spend millions creating good looking games. Now they can keep the shity graphics and blame it on the hardware.
