Sony has put the fears of gamers to rest by announcing even more clearly that the PlayStation 4 will support used games, as well as trading or lending of games, and does not require constant net access to play single player disc titles.
In what was very clearly a huge dig at Microsoft’s ambiguous position, Sony’s emphatic affirmation of the “ownership” paradigm of disc-based games drew huge cheers from E3 crowds and probably ranks as their biggest PR coup for the PS4 so far.
Just to rub things in further, Sony provides a helpful video describing the procedure required to share a game on the PS4:

brutally slaughtered no less...

YES AND IT'S TOO BAD BECAUSE IN THEE END WHEN JAPAN FAILS AND DIES OUT IT WILL BE THE GAMERS WHO SUFFER DUE TO THIS.
THE NWO (NEW WORLD ORGANIZATION) IS SMART!
One more Microsoft's failure
The new Xbox also supports used games. It is the publishers that dont want them to be allowed. putting keys licenese and whatever drm onto their games. not the console producers..
and who's the "game publisher"?
EA GAMES
Because they chained your hopes dreams and wallet to a radiator and did bad things to them.
Who is EA... and why do I dislike them? lol
the problem is that MS made of this policy and they don't want to man up and say it. The only people that can force developers to do block used game is the console makers. Sony and Nintendo proved it wasn't needed.
Except that publishers can choose to block it n the PS4, if they want to.

Publisher thing that's only for trading to participating retail stores! For the consumer to consumer interaction it's a one time thing to only people who you befriended for more than 30 days...
Publishers will do it BECAUSE Microsoft created the system where a single game disc will be locked to one account, with the possibility of being shared with a group of "family members", or given to a friend ONCE. Their talk about "publishers possibly doing it" is just them trying to pass the blame on another, when it was them who opened up the possibility.
It's a XB1 feature. If it wasn't, Microsoft wouldn't be announcing it as one on E3.
Surely MS gets its share for new game sales.
Even though Sony didn't even try to be innovative engineering wise this thing will out sell the Xbox One 4 to 1 simply because of that feature.
Agreed. This is great.
N-not that I want a PS4 or anything--
"Supporting" used games...
What was once a matter of course is now a privilege that you make a fuss about.
After years of "training," poor puppy is so happy to just not be kicked...
Blame microsoft who is taking that right from us. Atleast Sony isn't complete dick and licking publishers assholes and forgetting they are there because of fanbase like microsoft is doing.
We all know that lending and selling used games is a right and I'm just happy to see Sony didn't lick some publishers balls to destroy console gaming completely. That's it.
Yeah... plenty of people are cheering just because Sony is allowing us to keep our BASIC rights.
It's a sad era when you're making your purchase decisions based on which company is the lesser evil, but at least I still get to keep my games and still play it when I need to cut the Internet for a few months.
I don't think that highly of Sony, but I'm cancelling my XBox Live sub and moving to PS4 and PSN out of spite. Between 24hour DRM, Office being subscription only and Windows 8, Microsoft dun goofed.
Sony said 'Used games will work on our console'. So did Microsoft.. for a fee. Sony didn't say 'we won't charge you a fee if you lend/trade/buy used.'
And they have an out. Publishers can put in blocks for used games that leave Sony with clean hands.
Microsoft said:
"We'll fuck you, get over it."
Sony said:
"We might fuck you.. later."
do you really think that installing and/or taking these features out is in a matter of days?
Sony learned a painful lesson that the puppy bites when kicked to many times with the PSP Go.
@19:06
It would mostly be a coding issue, and they very easily could have had both options done and waited to see Microsoft make the first move.
I'm not a console gamer, but I wouldn't put to much faith in Sony. They waited until Microsoft made their announcements and saw the backlash, and probably backpedalled from their plans for always-on and used games.
Well, that is better than insisting to stick to the no used game and always online plan like Microsoft.
i will slap your ass until it's bright red
You don't need to want one as long as you can see that XBAWKS is the worse deal.
Being able to use, sell and lend what you bought and without phoning home is not a “feature”. It’s a right.
Indeed. It is sad that people confuse the two.
Even so, you can say the PS4 respects more of your rights than the XBO making it the better option out of the two.
Too bad they don't respect your private information and secure it properly, amirite?
Only that you don't buy it anymore.
You buy a licence to play the game, you don't even own the disk, that's just the medium used to distribute the games.
Well, those rules only apply for Sonys own games.
EA can still put in DRM that say you can't lend the game away, and require an activer internet connection to play.
And guess what, Sony will let them.
Alternatively, all EA games will be Xbox One exclusive, and then Sony'll loose a lot of customers. Because People buy the console because of the games, not features and hardware.
I think the XboxOne died on the runway this console war
This whole show was a big, fat trolling of the Xbox one.
And it deserve it.
So they will sell them for a year.
Then they'll release a patch that requires an always on connection.
They'll also release an update to the SDK that will require new games to have this patch.
Then they'll release another patch to remove the 'feature' that allows used games to be played.
Because its okay to remove features from an existing product, and the SCOTUS agreed.
its an x86 cpu and a amd gpu, i would honestly be shocked if in 2 years we don't have emulators because they aren't really emulating anything anymore, it would be more like a port done by the fans.
Uhm... Xbox Classic was x86 with nVidia GPU, but, AFAIK, there was no emulators!
I expect this to be fully jail broken in 2 months as X86 doesn't have much in the way of security and it's too widely understood.
Sorry, that's not gonna happens, this time Sony is doing it RIGHT !
M$ FANBOYS SHOULD KILL THEMSELVES !
Also technically illegal in many countries such as the US but the US government has completely forgotten who they really work for.
@22:49
Morally wrong? Yes. Technically illegal? No. I suggest you read the EULA of your games very closely. You agreed to it, you're bound by it.
Sony won by using the stupidity of Microsoft.
Good move.
That net connection crap sucks. Dragons ages origins has that crap. there is no multi player option. StarcraftII requires the log on a second account to the computer be on plus all the second user shared system accounts wide open for hackers to attack the computer crap. Every one is just going to go play old online mmo's now not spending any more money on the new crap.
When they require that shit you either crack it or don't play it.
