Chuunibyou Movie Announced – KyoAni: “Recaps = Boring”

A Chuunibyou movie has been announced in the form of Takanashi Rikka: Kai – however, it is merely to be a much reviled “season highlights” movie, albeit one refocused on Rikka rather than the token male protagonist of the series.
The trailer, revealing it is due in on the 14th of September:
The production staff admit that “just making a highlights compilation movie wouldn’t be interesting to viewers” and so have promised to introduce “new elements” centred on Rikka’s perspective on events, possibly making the whole thing interesting.
The movie apparently does not have any bearing on the second season, which should follow afterwards.

It was sold like shit, if I remember correctly, so the chances are slim. And it's for Kadokawa to decide, not KyoAni.

Every one knows that this movie os a desperate attempt for KyoAni to reclaim their fanboys who dropped them because of the fujoshit animu.
Let's see:
1. Tamako Market didn't sell good - KyoAni loses
2. no anime this season - no profit
3. summer season has "Free!", which most likely will be mainly for females - profit from fujoshi, no profit from male otaku = big loss
4. Chuunibyou recap movie to promote the 2nd season of their last good selling show = rather low cost production (reusing scenes, or at least existing material to work with, instead of creating something completely new) + making good profit
5. 2nd season - good profit, but lower than 1st season
6. winter season probably Kyoukai no Kanata - should turn out a profitable hit
2013: loss, loss, fujoshi-gain+male-otaku-loss, (gain - movie) + gain, gain
Ah, well... I forgot that Kyoukai no Kanata would be Winter 2014... so without that 2013 doesn't look all too good for KyoAni.
They start with a big loss, then do nothing, then they'll have to rely on female buyers... and at the end of the year they rely on the 2nd season of Chuunibyou and a low cost recap movie.

Just like the nanoha movies. Compress 24x12eps into two hours. Much background ejaculated for time. (Fyi, yes that word has been purposely used.)
It's called pimping the lolis out and milking them.
1. 1st Nanoha movie is 2h10m, 2nd movie is 2h30m
2. They might be recaps, but some things were changed/added/taken out
3. THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT... NONE of the Nanoha series is in HD or HQ (meaning neither the resolution nor the quality of art/sound are high). The movies are redone in HD and not just reused, upscaled scenes or something like that.
Whereas recap movies of Madoka, Chuunibyou, AnoHana, etc. already ARE HD in the TV series!
So, if you take a look... in one case we have HD remakes from older SD/LQ shows... then we have a bunch of recap movies of 1-2 year old HD series...
IMO it's truly stupid to remake something that ain't old. If said series were remade 6-10 years later, it'd be ok.... but this? It's stupid AND it's milking!
Nanoha movies not recaps but remake. Big difference.
Actually, the Nanoha movies did have quite a bit of new material. Haven't seen the second one yet, but the first one offered more perspectives on Presea (as well as Rinis, whom turned out being pretty damn awesome later on in the second PSP game). Same goes for the Gurren Lagann movies (Super form, anybody?).
Madoka, much as I love the series, I'd unfortunately be more willing to fault for being almost an exact copy-paste, with most of the new material merely being an art upgrade (which is pretty typical of SHAFT by this point). Though, there was an occasional new BGM from Kajiura which was a real treat, also the theater experience made some parts really fucking awesome (especially Sayaka's "baka" scene), so I'm still grateful to Aniplex for bringing that stateside.
Both of them have new material though.

It will have new material, it won't just be a recap. And the end will lead into season 2.
I don't think recaps means it is necessary boring it can be interesting if it is done in a creative way.
Should have made the whole thing based on the dvd/bd extras. The chuuni mode.

Why is this a franchise? The story bloody ended with the characters giving up their 'Chunibyou' personas and moved one with their lives.
And on top of that, it wasn't even that good, so why, why more of this?
Rikka never abandoned her chuni-self. She probably changed in some form or way, but she is still as delusional as she was before, maybe slightly less now that she's not looking for the Ethereal Horizon anymore. Yuuta tried to make her abandon it, but eventually gave up, seeing as how it made her depressed.
Also, the second novel speaks of a girl from Yuuta's past, who shows up to ruin the budding romance between him and Rikka.
It is excellent. Even explained all that "chuunibyou" stuff that characters like Okabe Rintarou and Kidou Eita among others have.
