The release of the 12th and final volume of Ore no Imouto has cause a partial upset amongst fans, although some are now very happy indeed.
The finale sees a firm “Kirino” ending:
Amongst fans there is plenty of debate as to the merits of the ending – and so far no crazed excesses of author harassment:

i for one have zero issue if they become a couple. blood related or not!
but the way the anime ended instead of habing it end like in koi kaze or angel sanctuaty or have it more faithful to the manga is what pissed everyone, including some kirino fans.
and its due to oreimo’s ending as well as that crappy ass anti otaku law that light novel authors are avoiding blood related romances between siblings & cousins like if it have the plague and going with the not blood related BS!
what worse is that those otakus that were griping about the siblings finally getting together , i would bet you that half of them have ero doujins of those two in sexual heat!

It was a touching show but this is out of place and disgusting. IT WAS NOT THAT KIND OF SHOW! This stupid ending trashes the entire good spirit of this show and turns it into a cliche fucking hentai.
“It is revealed in Volume 12 that Kyousuke does harbor romantic feelings towards his sister. He confesses to her in front of everyone in the Otaku group asking her to marry him. She says yes and they start dating.” Are you fucking -kidding me-
Just took a peek at my local kinokuniya.
They make a promise on christmas day.
Until graduation, they will be lovers.
After graduation, they will be brother/sister again.
The wedding scene is more symbolic than anything.
The epilogue is gibberish and ends with the title call.
The volume is only three stars with 400 reviews on amazon.co.jp
