In a departure from merely festooning his room with anime goods, one of Bakemonogatari’s more enterpising fans has won much praise by actually going so far as to recreate Araragi’s excessively stylish banana sofa.
The maker explains:
“I’ve pretty much finished Araragi’s banana sofa! If you stay true to the measurements from the show it is pretty huge.”
“Huge, but it looks great to sleep in.”
“I tried sleeping on it and it is even better than I thought.”
“You must work with furniture for a living? If it were actually on sale you’d think it would be at least $500. I want to see that airship he has hanging from his ceiling made up as well…”
“I’m in IT, but DIY is a hobby of mine.”
“It’s made perfectly!”
“I want one!”
“Does it work like a rocking chair? It looks a little dangerous…”
“It is big so it doesn’t swing too much. It’s fine, perfectly stable.”
“I’d like to know the cost and measurements?”
“About $300. But $100 of that went on just the cushions (covers and sponge), so if you could find something cheaper it would come to less. It is W2.5m*H1.1m.”
“Huge!”
“Come on, you couldn’t have made it that well so cheaply with DIY. You’re some kind of pro surely?”
“I’ve posted the plan I used, although the exact size differs a bit depending on the animators it seems.”

Make a Shinobu! Not a chair!
That takes more time and at least 2 people.
Not just any people one of them has to be a vampire.
And the other one has to be a natural blonde...which might prove harder to find in Japan than a vampire.
Shinobu is "what's left of a true vampire" after Araragi saved her. That's why she's a little girl now and not that ripana bishoujo seen at the OP of bakemonogatari.
So making a shinobu would take a bit more of a process than just getting 2vampires together.
I'm a vampire & a natural blonde, even though I've had my hair dyed brown for the longest. I've already created a few Shinobu(s). Only one of them hasn't awaken yet so some in my bund are calling me a bad father. I just tell them she takes after her mother.
Shinobu is a true vampire, she needs both parents to be vampires.

Aw yeah! It's fun making random props from anime... and who wouldn't want to try a rocking sofa? SHAFT is so avant-garde I wouldn't expect it to fit in most places though. In my case it physically wouldn't fit... if it rocked, I'd crush something.
I could totally fit that in my house but it would clash badly with everything else in the room including the room.
I'm waiting now to see if someone tries to remake Hitagi's room with the radically open design and deadly tatami gaps...

I live in Canada, land of mutlicultralism wand on the note above the Medicaid and other immigrants do work harder then us, but us native canadiens spend all day trying to hug all the other countrys problems away group hug Japan China and America?
Which may be why they work more over time if their OT pay is less than 1.5 Mexico I can imagine having lower OT pay. Or if they have bonuses for hours worked in years and to meet that means no days off at all.
1.5 times their normal pay still isn't much tho.
I wonder how accurate that is as most stories I seen of China talk about people putting in 60 to 70 hours a week.
Officially anything more then 49 is supposed to be over time in the US anything over 40 a week is over time and workers must be paid 1.5 times their normal pay.
Nope they work even longer hours but they use caffeine and who knows what else to exist on less sleep.
They are also masters of sleeping/catnapping on trains.
Try being on any train during morning or evening commute in Japan. You have people snoozing all over the place, who then suddenly get up and rush out when the train reaches their station.
Japanese trains are also a great place to make JK acquaintances. You just sit there minding your own business and the schoolgirl next to you having fallen asleep suddenly falls to your shoulder and only realizes that she rested on you after she's dozed for a few moments...
Contrary to what this site wants to make you believe they don't just immediately scream chikan for the heck of it, even if you're gaijin. They politely apologize and are all flustered and cute... By sheer coincidence I met her on the same train on the way back again and we exchanged mail addresses. I'm not in Japan anymore for now but we still occasionally get in touch...

Clearly it only works for Asians. I slept on the bus on my way to school, but I also slept in school...
People in Japan work 6 days a week if they're lucky. Busy jobs like teachers often end up having to go in on Sunday to keep working.
That's cool. I'm jealous of those DIY guys, the best I ever did is repairing the toilet (more out of necessity than anything).
