Nanoha? Wasn't it just another mahou shoujo anime? And i'm not sure about Idolmaster, as there are a lot of girls copying the dances or doing cosplay of it on youtube.
The target audience for Nanoha was 30 year old men.

You don't need to vote this guy down, because he is right. Like Madoka, Nanoha was a Mahou Shoujo series aimed at adults. At least certainly not children. Unlike Madoka, it wasn't a deconstruction of the genre though.
Madoka didn't deconstruct the genre through. Even if that was the idea, the only thing that got deconstructed is the idea of overly trusting innocent wide eyed idealists.
If you want to deconstruct the genre, you only need realistic 14 year old girls instead. Bonus points if they end up kidnapped, turned into lab rats, and their powers reverse engineered for burly supersoldiers who fire automatic rifles instead of friendship beams.

Now, it's been a very long time since I've seen Eva but I'm pretty sure that there aren't any magical girls in it. Or any remotely psychologically normal ones for that matter.

Wow, lol, I knew I was in the vast minority here. Well, at least i'm not completely alone :P I'm definitely not a homophobe, btw. I'm one of the few people supporting Free! and I watched Brokeback Mountain and Mysterious Skin like I would any other movie, and I already watch Queen's Blade and Ikkitousen and other anime full of Yuri. I love seeing the sexy women in them, it's just that Yuri doesn't add anything for me.
Of course, leave it to Sankaku to just downvote and hate on me for having a different opinion rather than just use the opportunity to gush about what you love and why you think it's so great.

I can't see the reason why this show is the first of the list. Maybe they asked those who do not know the series and showed them a picture of the transformation sequence to choose.

The other list is just mainstream titles. These are more niche, which is much more enjoyable than the predictable mainstream titles.
All I see is yet another list that shows anime fans have only started to watch anime in the last 5 years.
