MoeNovel is preparing If My Heart Had Wings – the English edition of a visual novel about the not wholly unfamiliar theme of a male student and his wheelchair bound female companion who form a sky gliding club – as an all-ages version with high definition visuals, which is dated for arrival this June in both package and download form.

This isn’t even by KEY, is it? Yes still… really, what’s with these sob VNs and having moe so extreme that their fist-sized eyes need to be so far apart that they’re practically positioned like a lizard’s?

Like others, I hate censored stuff. I want the full product, no matter what it includes.
Let’s say “Clannad” had Sunohara NTR Nagisa, Tomoyo being gangraped by Misae the dormitory boys, and a scene were Botan is butchered with a machete… Sure I’d hate that stuff, but if it’s meant to be there, I’d rather have it in the game. How can I evaluate the product, if some things are taken out?
What about a version of School Days, where they take out the H-scenes and the death scenes? Someone might prefer that version, but they wouldn’t understand what all the hype is about.

All-ages titles are fine, but what Moenovel does, going as far as altering kiss scenes so you only see the back of the head (wtf) and other things is too much.
How about an approach like Da Capo III? Circus released an H-less All-ages game first, and they plan on releasing an H-version later. That way everyone can enjoy the game.
But taking an H-game, which also relies on sexual humor, and butcher it without offering a nonbutchered version? Just no!

christ. along with everyone else. why in gods green earth would anyone bother to make an all ages english version of a japanese h-vn? thats like taking call of duty and releasing the game with NO Guns, knives and even hands. for christ sake.. i was looking forward to endless nights of jerking it but now i have to settle with this all ages piece of shit.

Hehe, yeah, become fans of the characters, then search them up online, then… bam, the entry into the world of hentai. That really takes me back… I was a happy shota ^___^

Great more publishers censoring VN by removing all ero content. These moralfags can take their self righteous views and shove right up their collective asses. They’re probably gonna go bankrupt if they keep this up.

just think, if america never exsisted, and england never exsisted, the international version of this game would have been released uncensored, and no one would have had to remove content.

though the international version would then be chinese, russian or something else…

Serious answer: depends on the person. Far from everyone who needs a weelchair has lost their way to feel below the belt. Some persons have totally lost all their senses: others just can’t use some muscles (often those used in walking).

  • Anonymous says:

    humm… let’s see… full english tranlslation?: Check
more than likely an eager community to apply the translated script to the untranslated version?: Check
Total units sold of the full butchered down version?: I suspect about 1…?

    • Anonymous says:

Well, have fun with the butchered translation!
FYI they took out sex jokes, which are said to be important for character development and story and there are quite a lot… they also changed other dialogue. Basically this is overlocalized and made childfriendly… inb4 Onigiri = Donuts lol
Even if that were not the case… the translation is still too liberal and people, who tested the demo, said that it seems to be translated/edited by non-native speakers and it’s riddled with mistakes (reminding of HinataBokko)

I will just repost this email that some guy on vndb got regarding censorship and steam

    Hi VDZ,

Thank you for your interest in the game and for your mail. It is good to hear that you enjoyed the demo of the version of the game and are looking forward to the full release version.

An official Press Release will be out by this Friday, the 17th, and I hope some speculations will be addressed.

The the time being, the following answers might answer your questions.

    1. You plan to remove all sex scenes from the original game. Will they
be replaced with any new content, or will they simply skip over the
sexually explicit part without any other changes?
    1. Yes, all sex scenes will be removed, and no new content wil be added. However, the game will still have a nice story, and the game will not have any awkward endings. Players who have not played the Japanese version of the game will be able to find the game interesting, and safe to play.

    2. There are rumors that kissing scenes or certain aspects of them will
be removed or altered as part of the sexual content removal. Will there
be any changes to any of the kissing scenes (outside of those taking
place during sex scenes which are obviously cut entirely) compared to
    the original game?
    2. The kissing scenes will be altered so that it will not show any tongues or lips touching, but will show the back or side view of a couple kissing, as seen under the ‘demo’ section in the official homepage, link.

    3. Similarly, there are rumors about sexual jokes being cut or toned down
in order to fit the ESRB T rating. To which extent has the dialogue been
modified to remove references to sex (apart from cutting out explicit
    sex scenes)?
    3. The wording has been changed so that there are no sexual jokes. There are, however, minimal slapstick humor scenes left behind.

    4. There are also explicit scenes and images in the original game that
were not part of sex scenes, such as bathing scenes. What will happen to
these scenes and images? Will they be removed? Will the images be
    modified to remove explicit parts?
    4. Explicit scenes such as bathroom scenes will not show any obvious body parts, and will show characters in towels. Characters will also be covered by water in the bath. There will be no unnatural blocking of body parts, such as a blank-out of parts, or blocks covering body parts.

    5. For some time, Play-Asia listed the non-physical version of the game
as being distributed in the form of Steam codes, although this has since
been reverted. Are there any concrete, direct plans (as in, accepted by
Valve) to sell this game on Steam? If not, do you plan to try or have
you tried to get the game on Steam?
    5. No, we do not have plans to sell the game on Steam. We do not plan, nor did we try to get the game on Steam.

    6. Will the game (physical and/or download version) have DRM? If so,
what kind of DRM will be used?
    6. The DRM of the download version will depend on the download platform/ website that you have purchased the game from.

    7. There are rumors of the sexual content of the original game being
re-added to the game as DLC, based on a registry entry named
‘SweetLovePatch’. Are there any plans to re-add the sexual content like
this or to release an 18+ version of the game? If not, what is the story
    behind the ‘SweetLovePatch’ registry entry?
    7. No, there are no plans to re-add sexual content. The ‘SweetLovePatch’ will left over from the original game. It was purely a mistake on our part and will not be included in the full version of the game.

    8. The translation of the demo version has received a mixed response. To
which extent, if at all, will the script be revised before the game’s
release? Will you release an updated demo when the script has been
    completed?
    8. There are no plans to revise the translation for the full game at the moment. A few parts might be altered in the full version but the script for the demo will not be updated.

    9. MoeNovel seems to be a subsidiary of Will. To which extent were Will
and/or Pulltop involved in the decision to release this title
internationally and the decision to remove its sexual content?
    9. It was decided by all departments to publish an all-ages version of the game.

    10. To which extent were Will and/or Pulltop involved in the actual
localization of the game (such as deciding which content to cut, how to
    alter certain content, etc.)?
    10. The cut contents and the alteration of contents were both decided by Will and Pulltop.

    11. A Twitter account has appeared with the name ‘MoeNovel’ but no
profile picture. Is this (going to be) the official MoeNovel twitter, or
did someone register the name before you were able to?
    11. Yes, it will be the official twitter account. It is still being updated at the moment.

Thank you for your questions, we hope the answers above will be able to clear some of the confusion.

We would also like to thank you for your support and hope you will enjoy the full release version.

    Kind Regards,

    Moenovel support staff

censoring stuff and not even being ashamed of it, eh?
i really hope a small group of fan makes a full patch for the jap version and screw them over…
or maybe that “sweet love patch” will be leaked at some point…

    • Anonymous says:

Wow. That’s an incredibly good and informative reply as far as stuff like that goes. Every little sales killing detail written clearly and concisely. ‘-‘

Kudos to them for that much. Shame this “all ages” version is only going to help fan translators hack the translation into the normal version and put it on the net for free.

  • I personally hate when they remove h-content from these games, it kinda ruins them, another game I won’t purchaise due to this, Aselia the Eternal was the first. I prefer my games to be uncut and not have stuff removed.

    • Anonymous says:

Because lolicon games are popular in feminist Sweden, Norway, Holland etc. Yeah and the European Commission and Parliament approved cartoon child porn. Man, you Anglophones are so provincial.

    • Anonymous says:

what are you on about? Aselia the Eternal is good with our without the h content. It isn’t like Monstergirl Quest where removing it would destroy its shockingly good philosophical points. There are some games that where built around h and loses its purpose without it, Aselia was not one of them.

        • Anonymous says:

You’re the one who is stupid because you seem to be avoiding my reply by saying “stupid”. It’s so sad that you have to insult to the person who is only trying to correct an ignorant person, which is YOU. You quite seem to dismiss someone else reply by saying “stupid”. I guess it shows that you’re one of these low life deficient person they are calling lurking around the web. I heard that the only thing they do is insult people and comment on every articles. Get a life.

        • Anonymous says:

“perv market” Wow what an idiot. It’s like your saying that people who read VN are all pervs. Not all people is like that. Well they wouldn’t be able to localize this VN without these “perv” who bought this VN. Also, this isn’t exactly the VN that you might call “family friendly”. Removing substantial part of this VN will ruin the original story of it. If these “perv” you calling didn’t buy this VN in the first place then the company woudln’t be able to produce more or localize. Not to mention the company who will publish this VN is obviously oblivious to the western demographic of VN readers.

      • Anonymous says:

Well it was all because of the “perv market” that this VN actually exist. Family friendly? I doubt that as the original have more H-CG than Non-H-CG. If they want to release a family friendly VN then they should release an original all ages VN instead of ruining this VN.

        • Anonymous says:

So sad that you have to call someone stupid to make your point. It shows that you don’t understand what I’m talking about. Didn’t your parents teach you not to insult other people without knowing them. I guess I’m too stupid to expect someone who is always on the internet to understand my statement. I guess it’s a side effect from commenting on every news in here. At least I don’t spend my time on the internet insulting people.

        • Anonymous says:

You really don’t understand what I said. I can’t believe there’s still imbecilic person lurking around the internet. I suggest reading my “simple” reply earlier or you are too feeble-minded that accusing me for having lack of knowledge of understanding to what you claim “complex ideas” of yours.

This localization wouldn’t exist if the “perv market” or whatever you might call it didn’t buy this VN in the first place. This isn’t exactly the VN you might call “family friendly”.

        • Whats not to understand. You are saying this VN title has been popularized and successful because of perverts. Though I didn’t explicitly respond to this particular single claim, I dismissed with a counter argument explaining the matter from a larger perspective. Though I suppose you are too simple minded to understand complex ideas.

        • No, visual novels exist because companies want to make money. Catering to pervs is not their first priority. The moment visual novels became popular and mainstream ditching pervs and making titles available to a wider audience to make more money is priority number one. If you are unhappy with this make you own if you have the talent and skill. Do you? They can do whatever they want with their own material.

      • Anonymous says:

This is true. The non-H version will likely sell a few more copies than the H version, if only because more brick-and-mortar stores would be willing to carry it.

And like most companies which publish games, MoeNovel is in the business of making money.

        • Anonymous says:

LOL, are you retarded, or just totally ignorant? NO ONE besides H-inclined otaku know just what exactly a VN even is, never mind buying one. NO ONE. This is a clear case of complete and utter marketing failure.

If they don’t go bankrupt from this right away, they’ll learn their lesson soon enough though.

  • Anonymous says:

I hate it when they ruin a good eroge by removing the erotic content. Was a stupid move in Aselia the Eternal and a even stupider move in this. I don’t buy it myself, unless they release the uncut 18+ version.

  • Anonymous says:

    To hell with this rubbish.

No one aside from japanophile retards would buy this crap.

What is the fun of playing a stupid game in which you only read corny but stupid dialogues and watch horrible static pictures? (it must be source of shame to obtain a major in literature only to write those crappy scripts)…it’s better if you watch a trashy latin soap opera.
