One Piece Cancelled Again as Eiichiro Oda Hospitalised

One Piece mangaka Eiichiro Oda hospitalisation with a tonsil infection has caused the cancellation of at least two One Piece instalments, alarming many fans yet again.
According to Shonen Jump’s editorial announcement, volume 26 and 27 of Weekly Jump will be missing One Piece due to his hospitalisation.
Jump also clarified that he is suffering from a peritonsillar abscess, not simple tonsillitis as their print announcement stated.
Amongst Shonen Jump readers, in addition to worry for “workaholic” Oda himself, there has been the usual concern at both the fate of One Piece and the reliance of the magazine on its colossal success – and the effect any extended One Piece hiatus could have on the magazine.

If he buys it because you force him straight back to work after surgery, his blood will be on YOUR fucking hands!
Better yet, why not make One Piece a MONTHLY release? The artwork and wall-of-text storytelling justifies more time and care to be put into it anyway.
That way Oda can have more time to polish instead of running out of steam and life on the THREE hours of sleep a day you give him.

Berserk gets four chapters a year. It allows for great art but snail pacing. With such a large gap I find myself wanting less action and more plot. It's still plenty good, but man is it frustrating. I can see it lasting for about as long a OP lol with it's current release schedule.
Don't really want to see OP go down that path, so a bi-weekly thing might be good.
So like Berserk I'd still follow after years of serialization as long as it manages to entertain.
The author of Berserk hates relying on assistants, that's why he takes such a long time to release a chapter.
At least One Piece has yet to reach the levels of HiatusXHiatus in cancellation of releases.

Berserk is on semi-hiatus because the author is reportedly burned out and trying to keep his sanity alive with gaming and family matters. He used to be the same work horse like Oda is and that will eventually tear every person down.
Miura does have assistants though, as opposed to say Togashi. He takes a long time primarily because of serialization, again opposed to say someone like Togashi.

Even the author of the comparatively obscure and MUCH less popular "Kannagi" was able to take a TWO YEAR break and still have good-faith and a loyal fanbase to her name!
Oda SURELY can take a One-Year vacation to get back into Gear, so to speak, and be afforded the same amount of love and respect when he returns!
He should have did that in the '3 year growth period' arc after Ace died.

Maybe. Or maybe not. One Piece is so popular that a lot of the sales are dependent on it (I don't have any numbers to back this statement up, I'm just saying because of the sheer popularity OP has). If OP stops, so will sales.

Why not every 2 weeks and maybe Oda actually decided so move it more towards an ending than it is now. Like still drag it for a few yeas still, but not so many side quests as it's had
I've read Oda's previous works. He had so much gold there, he even wrote sort-of Death Note oneshot (much before the actual one came out). Let him finish One Piece and make some more gold without risking his life. Look, even Kishimoto almost gave up.

I know that one piece sells a lot, but they have naruto, gintama, bleach , hunter x hunter and toriko so if one piece gets on hiatus, they still have way more sellings than any other magazine and they would survive, if that wasn't true then the other magazines like the ones who publish fairy tail,kenichi, silver spoon, soul eater and to love ru darkness would have been on bankrupt a long time ago.

No, I'm not a Naruto fanboy... I just want it to end sooner. It's getting worse every weak and since the beginning of the current arc, the manga is just boring, predictable, slow and shit.

I'd say that with OP one can at least guess an ending (and answers concerning what OP is, the all-blue... whether some people achieve their dreams, etc.)... Berserk is another matter. Most likely the manga will never get an ending. Claymore is similar: monthly and the story seems to only start. And, though I never read/watched HxH... its history says more than enough, seems like Berserk.
So... let's see what get's an ending and what doesn't. First is Naruto... inb4 Kishimoto suffocates on Ramen =)
Man Oda, definitely going to die and ruin himself.
He's overworked and smokes coffin nails like a chimney. Something like that had to happen at some point. I also largely blame the publishers and their work-slave mentality. They had it easy with Oda and his iron-man work ethic. Some might call it foolishness.
Sounds like they need to let the guy have a break and have someone else do the filler stuff.
He should just start getting the endgame going on the damn series so he can retire.
One Piece is at the middle of story at most. The ending is far in the horizon.
it might even take longer depending on how things go. I recall one time, he stated that the Skypeia arc lasted a helluva lot longer than he was intending.
But yeah, he's had a decade and a half of build-up now. Last thing we need is to rush him and have EVERYTHING resolved in a few measly chapters (or even one year, which is a respectable amount of time but still a small fraction of this series' lifespan). I've seen enough anime gecko endings to know that doing this often leads to pisspoor results at best.

Actually Oda had the ending in his head right from the start and its not like he doesn´t know what to do with his story anymore (like Miuara for example).
Then in the worst case scenario maybe he can give detailed notes to some other mangaka to finish it for him, a la Wheel of Time...

I dropped One Piece a long time ago, but I don't wish for anything bad to happen to Oda. Hopefully he'll recover soon and rest a bit before going back to his usual schedule.
