Microsoft Unveils Xbox One – “Enjoy Your TV & EA!”

Microsoft has finally unveiled the new Xbox, dubbed the Xbox One and due “later this year,” although with the better part of their presentation being given over to TV and EA Sports precious little of the actual game line-up was on show.
As Sony is obsessed with social, so Microsoft is with TV (and “the Cloud”) – although the console does still retain the capability to play actual games:
A much enhanced version of Kinect is also included, as is the possibility of struggling to control the device with voice controls.
Microsoft first proudly presented a special partnership with the USA’s worst company – Electronic Arts was on hand to reveal its “intelligent and dynamic” EA Sports titles, showing off some surprisingly poor graphics and various promises of super-AI and continuous as opposed to merely annual updates.
Forza Motorsports 5 also featured, and for the tiny minority of Xbox gamers not interested in sports games,
several seconds of Remedy’s Quantum Break were visible in between what appeared to be shots of a TV drama.
Microsoft did promise 15 “exclusive” games and 8 “new franchises” – after which it was back to the exciting world of TV on Xbox Live, in the form of a Spielberg produced Halo live action series and more ways of fantasising about muscular men running up and down a stadium in the form of NFL and “fantasy football.”
Activision was also on hand to present Call of Duty Ghosts, which now includes a dog.
No other games featured, with further details apparently due at the impending E3.

Ok is Microsoft so cheap they can't hire a proper advertiser or photographer with common sense? Whoever heard of showing a black item on a black background? Seems like common sense went out the window with whoever did them pictures.

The hardware issue is a bit more complex. I mean, Sony isn't pressing their hardware requirements any farther either, and they probably think that those who really care that much about power without worrying about price are already laughing beside their high end rigs.
The assumption by console makers these days is that consoles make most profit when it's just cheap enough. They wouldn't want to repeat the nightmare PS3 faced in its first few years.

Jokes aside. My family got our first PC back in 1996, I believe, and we had gaming consoles much earlier. I grew up as a toddler playing/watching Master System and NES, and as an adult I still own most consoles, newest being a 360.
To me there were PC games and console games. FPS and strategy games were best played on PC, everything else on the console. That feeling of holding a controller in your hands and sitting in front of the telly... it's NOT the same as a computer screen!
But all of this social shit and the "great" multimedia features ruin what is meant to be a plastic box, in which you insert games for... well, gaming! The PS1 could play music CDs, with the PS2 one could watch DVDs... later generations added crap you don't need one a gaming console. They could just release their stuff as a "multimedia console" or "computer replacement/alternative" which also functions as a gaming console... but they don't
News flash: you can hold a controller and play games in front of the telly on the computer as well... hell, my friends and I have been doing that for a long time now.
The thing is that it's free to add multimedia features. That's why they add them and advertise them, it didn't cost almost any extra (besides a bit of software support).

love how some people take someone's opinion (which is always bias - which ever way)and try to spin it off as the facts.
If you want the facts of the new console - see the stream they did. They spent the first half of the conference (about 30 minutes) talking about the hardware/xbox live/software; and the other 30 minutes about what games / apps they wanted to talk about.
I think it was much better than the PS4 conference myself. At least we say the console and saw what it could do -.-

Why would they? Everything in this world is about money, and console sells have dropped because people are playing more social game crap on thier cell phones and PCs, hardcore, and even average gamers are getting shafted because of facebook.

Gamers will always be customers and buy whatever they release they don't care. Better graphics and new titles is all you need to say to them. I think they are trying to attract non gamers like me where all in one is slightly good sounding. But until they make something where I can voice activate everything like Im iron man and there are touchable holograms all over my living room I wont be interested.

I think playstation has a smaller controller WITH a touch screen in it. Though I prefer xbox to playstation thats pretty sexy.
It reminds me of my first Black Sony VCR. Hell, photoshop a Disk Tray into the Disk Slot and there you go! The PS4 would look almost exactly like my uncle's Bose Receiver if you painted the whole thing gray and the top half of the front black.
At least they showed what the console looks like instead of beating around the bush showing teasers.
