Even as GG introduces UE, BB is heading in the opposite direction with TV in the form of a full TV anime adaptation, to the general relief of fans – most of whom seem prepared to overlook the generally abysmal fate of fighting game to anime adaptations.
Boasting staff involved in the production of such classics as To Aru Majutsu no Index and FMA, and the studio behind such classics as Seiken no Qwaser, Manyuu and Nazo no Kanojo X, the series certainly looks to enjoy a mixed pedigree and is scheduled for an autumn 2013 broadcast.

Noel fanservice incoming.
No, Litchi and Makoto! :3
But Noel would be nice too, actually. I just expect less of that from the "main female" for some reason...
But where's TAO!?
And ironically the one character with the most service shot will be Noel and not the titty monsters.
no need to be mean to the meaty ones... ._.
I'm suggesting ramping up the service on the Lacking Lady just to bully her.
I'm certainly not adverse to more fanservice of Lacking Lady. She needs more love.
LITCHIIIIIIIIIII-DONO !! <3
O Yeah big titty Litch!
But...I want MU-12...
Me too... That skin tight suit, ass like "DAUUUUUMMMMM" and an innocence so cute like a young girl~<3
Its Hoods Entertainment you don't believe me look them up they produced Seiken no Qwaser.
I hope they choose to center on one character (ragna)... if they rush it to do all the characters I feel like it will turn out bad...
I want some Kokone fanservice NOW!!
God, I hope so.
Thats a given bro! She got a girl-ass skirt, prepare to get your fill of pantsu shots all daaaaaaaaaay!
Oh FOR. FUCK'S. SAKE.
what? monku aruka??
I LOVE RACHEL!!!
Well it's about fucking time! I was hoping that someone would make an anime out of this kickass fighting game that I enjoy. A gamw with such a complex story like this, especially if it's a fighting game, deserves to have it's anime adaption. And if anyone doesn't agree, then go fap at pictures of loli girls or something.
Hey, you know, they could fap to the lolis in this game/anime too :P Rachel looks like she aptly fit the bill.
Not me, though, I'll be fapping to the non-lolis in this. But don't get me wrong, the story and everything else is certainly a cherry on top of the potential for delicious service :) and hopefully some Daisuke tunes to boot.
Some other fighting games have great plots ripe for anime adaptations too (with some helpful elaboration) it's just that they're usually presented terribly within the actual games, lol. Especially KOF's first two arcs and SC before the travesty that is SC5.

I can definitely see myself watching this but I don't really expect it to be that great. Just had to put that out there.
Yeah something like Persona 4 right? Don't get me wrong I love Persona 4, but the anime was very average.
Well, it still did very well in compacting hours of play into an anime. It did well enough as an adaptation, but just can't replicate the original game.
Blazblue itself is probably going to follow the story mode.
Devil Survivor 2 anime is superior to Persona 4 anime by doing one thing: Reinterpreting certain events to make it more TV-worthy and giving the protagonist an actual personality.
sorry, but Yu had a defined personality. he's a deadpan snarker, serious but sassy, and we get to see his fears and emotions, unlike in the game.
Hopefully it will be good.
Scrap that. That's two things.
Well, at leats I'm sure It will be better than the shitty yaoi swimming anime of KyoAni.
well at least it won't create a landslide in the Philippines like next week's rains will
Akihito: I'm still super butthurt about that anime, so I am gonna bring it up here again!
I think he was just expecting easy upvotes, bringing it up so randomly like that.
Obsess much? Two (official) posts from you, both about this swimming anime, neither in articles about said anime.
For someone that's so disgusted, you sure do seem fixated on it.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this, considering that fighting game adaptations are a mixed bag at best. For every Street Fighter II, {animated movie} there is an Art of Fighting movie, and I'm hoping that Blazblue doesn't fall into the latter.
SF story in general is pure shit. Blazblue story is pretty detailed than all the fighters i played. I just know they going to fuck something up though.
SF doesn't have a plot. Any semblence of a plot is actually cleverly disguised time sink which exists only to give players some variety between real gameplay.
And that's just fine. A game doesn't need epic storytelling to be fun.
Nothing needs "epic storytelling" to be fun, actually. Not everything has to be a masterpiece to be entertaining (at the least).
the SF story had pretty much always been shit, yet the anime movie turned out well despite that... the reverse could happen in this case, but I'm optimistic
The art of fighting anime of kinda like fanservice of the non-sexual kind, that's all. It was just fun and it's not like it had much story to work with to begin with, so I felt it did a fine job of adapting what it had to. As a fan of the games, I enjoyed it... it was entertaining and had some good laughs and cool fight scenes.

SF2:TAM is an example of taking a lousy plot and making it into something more through direction. It was also written well... at least up until the final scene XD They did it again with the V series adaptation. It's no wonder that the games started to take inspiration from the animes, lol. The SF series had a better shot at anime with the Alpha series but they kinda fucked that up, especially with SF3 and SF4.
The Fatal Fury animes had a similar success as SF2:TAM, imo...
KOF: Another Day is the biggest fighting game anime tease ever.... besides the intro to Rival Schools. These could have been so awesome.. ;_;
And I don't care what anyone says, Variable Geo is at least way better than the games.
Tekken can't possibly do anything better than that first anime, which was OK... but now, it has a plot that has grown to such levels of nonsensical insanity that it even makes DBZ look silly. Blood Vengeance took that even further.
I just really want to see anime from Dead or Alive and Soul Calibur now. There is definitely those two can be done the right way, and it's especially not too late for DOA's case.
I'm never very concerned with anime adaptations of fighting games, there's always something to give them merit at least, but it's the non-anime ones we have to be careful with... I think only the first MK was acceptable in that case, lol.
Yeah, the story was so good that some people actually categorize the story mode as a Visual novel in VNDB...
And then theres the Fatal Fury OVAs and movie that were freaking amazing
Are they going to rerelease it every year or two with some changes to the story so you have to rebuy it again to see what's new?
Why are people pessimistic about the anime? Have they never played a BlazBlue game before? The amount of storytelling and cut scenes in each game is basically like watching an anime. It is the perfect fighting game for an anime. Its going to be a seamless transition
Let's just hope they don't fuck it up like the guys who adapted Aku no Hana did.
I've played Blazblue and I considere it one of the best fighting game franchise ever, but did you see the producers ? An hentai studio (Hoods), that made Seikon no Qwaser, a shitty studio that never made an action show before (Mausu), a studio that is absolutely irrelevant in anime (Team KG)… I'm supposed to be happy ?
You clearly don't know anything about Hoods and the anime they make (and also the variety of anime they make), so you're in no position to judge.
Serious comment here.
The problem with fighting game anime is both pretty simple and almost impossible to overcome.
"Who will be the main character?"
A coherent story needs a central character around whom events and other characters orbit. He or she will be the primary POV character that brings a sense of continuity to events.
No matter who they pick, it's always going to leave a significant number of characters relegated to the background or minor status.
Try to "spread the story", and it becomes a jumbled, washed out mess.
They could take a page from the Amagami SS anime, and do a series of short arcs focused on a specific character, and then do a universe reset for the next arc and character. But that's really just a series of animated vignettes, isn't it?
The first option will piss off everyone except fans of the "chosen" character, more than likely.
The second would just piss everyone off AND be a disaster.
The third has possibilities, but could still suffer from not having a character that can "anchor" all the variant arcs.
Personally, I'm skeptical of this being any good. Mediocre, probably. Terrible, possibly. Good, not hopeful.
Trust us, if any fighting game has a chance of being a good anime even to non-fans, it's this game.
You're talking like you've never played BB, and assuming BB's story is the same as every fighting game.
I haven't played it, that's why I wrote, "The problem with fighting game anime," and not "with BlazBlue."
In story mode, are any of the character arcs mutually exclusive? That is, if Character A defeats Character B, Character B's story ends.
Yeah, there are a few characters in the game who tend to show up even when you choose characters who aren't central to the storyline. The anime should have good plot line to follow if it is done right.
Not Spoiling anything but those characters you see in the poster are the "Key characters".
and here's one interesting fact that shows how different BB's story when compared with SF, Tekken and other Fighting games:
"It's actually listed in VNDB, ( one of the biggest database for Visual Novels) just for the story."
At least try the first one, "Calamity Trigger" and get the gist of what I'm talking about.
Finish
Ragna the Bloodedge is the hero of the story mode. Much of the game revolves around him and the other major characters. I don't see a problem here.
