One of Japan’s valiant defenders has been arrested for controlling his sexual energy with the help of two schoolgirls.

The woman is charged, sure. But there are case where a teacher, having sex with an underage boy, and his brother(no joke), and she get out just as sex offender. No jail. Talk about minimal punishment.
If it is a male teacher, surely he will be in jail at least for 5 years.
If its a male teacher or a police officer he seems to just get a slap on the wrist in most of the articles on this site.
Because if you allow people to commit a crime without any consequences, they will. Teenagers are especially prone to letting things get to their head.

Well, yeah. Thats sort of the whole point of the laws most of the civilized world have put in place.
The thinking goes, that minors are to young to make responsible decisions, and are unable to make proper judgement calls. So, most places make them wait until they reach some "proper" age before they are allowed to drink, smoke, vote, or, you know, have sex with adults.
Any minor caught having sex with an adult will automatically be treated as the victim, and the adult as a pedophile. That's how society works.
You can debate that point to your hearts content, whether right or wrong, or what age should someone be counted as an adult. But it's currently the way the way most of the world goes.

Thats why there are ages of consent. In Japan its usually 13-15 based on prefecture. The guy was in the legal to tap them, what was illegal is that he picked them up online and probably offered some service inexchange, paying them or treating them to dinner or something, which constitutes as child prostitution, and that he was a government employee. Basically responsible people shouldnt get prostitutes. Like how doctors shouldnt date patients and teachers shouldnt go out with students.

What these girls did was necessary at the time to maintain discipline in the army. Also, there is no proof that the Japanese authorities had forced these girls into servitude.
Being a soldier is a job which involves putting yourself in extreme situations where you don’t know whether your next breath will be your last. The build up a lot of energy and need to dissipate it somehow. I think we should think carefully about where they can do this.
