How the hell do they transform rather attractive cast to these rotoscoped monsters? Why wouldn't they just make it a live dorama?
Cartoons are also "monsters". You just have to adapt your perspective a little bit. It's not such a huge barrier. People "like" to have as many problems as possible... (which on second makes this show more realistic than I first thought...)
Exactly! The actors don't look bad at all. People always say that the characters look ugly, because real people are ugly... or that they look just like humans because they are rotoscoped... They do not!

Why not just do live action? Is rotoscope better? This could be accepted better with real actors.
Maybe it would be accepted better, but frankly I don't see what the excitement is about. Only the protagonist looks genuinely weird, the others look ok. I've had no problem following the story so far, and I can also see the characters as normal characters. People have fucking issues...

So I guess I'm the only one loving this anime? I've never read the manga though so maybe that's why but I certainly will once the anime ends.
Although I won't claim it to be the best of season I am enjoying this anime. The art style is quite unique but I don't dislike it. The music and dialogue absolutely make the show. If you listen to the dialogue it flows very smoothly and naturally. Love that creepy ending theme.

I thought the whole point of animé was so we could escape into a fantasy world and avoid the horrifying reality of what real Japanese schoolgirls actually look like.
If only they looked like real Japanese schoolgirls lol They basically rotoscope real normal looking people, take away most of the facial features, and have them jerking around (in terms of movement, not the other thing).
This wouldn't bother me if this was the art style originally portrayed in the manga, but it's not. It's like they went out of their way to take a brilliantly executed style of art and sodomize it repeatedly until it congealed into this massive pile of refuse.
it's the anime version of the uncanny valley. the more realistic you try to make it, the more hideous and creepier it will be before it actually becomes good. unfortunately, it's just creepy this time.
It is a downgrade.. from manga with excellent plot and art, into an ugly anime with the same plot..

people keep saying that... I've tried reading the manga. the art sucks too. the faces are flat and round. there's no depth to this art. Why are people saying the original art was good when it clearly isn't?
