Chuunibyou Second Season Announced

Kyoto Animation have finally confirmed that Chuunibyou de mo Koi ga Shitai’s second TV season is in production, much to the relief of desperate Rikka fans everywhere.
The announcement comes by way of an early issue of Newtype featuring a pin-up proclaiming the advent of the new season, which was soon followed up by official Twitter confirmation:
Given that the conclusion of the first season effectively removed any point to a continuation of the original’s “rescue Rikka from chuunibyou escapism” plot, there have been some understandable doubts voiced about the viability of the second season for anything other than sheer moeblobbery or gag value – although from the perspective of its main fanbase, this may well be regarded as an improvement.

I'm glad they will be adapting the second book. I'm looking forward to seeing Sophia Ring SP Saturn VII animated, and more of Kazari Kannagi. The books were not about "saving Rikka from her chuunibyou". That part was anime original. The books were about Yuuta and Rikka dating.
KyoAni became the ultimate troll studio ever. Instead of giving us another season of FMP, Haruhi or Lucky Star, they insist with this moeblob shit and, even worse, fall to the next level with that gay swimming anime. What's next, a genderbent Tamako Market?

They also happen to be working on an anime adaptation of Dark souls. But it will be written by the same writer as K-ON so the plot is about Slice-of-life of being an undead in Lodran.

Funny enough, KyoAni has been busy animating Haruhi Novel 7 for years already. Fans will know that can't even begin until lose ends have been tied up in a third season.
They'll be a huge amount coming all at once, just wait a little while longer.

Haruhi and Lucky Star can be justified with Aya Hirano quitting being seiyu. But FMP...

FMP can be justified with not being nearly as lucrative as their later shows have been - and that was back when it was new. For KyoAni to go back to FMP now would be like saying "We decided to stop making money". It would be stupid of them to do so.

just face it, kyoanus is the most overrated studio that can't be successful without relying on moeshit antics. Now Madhouse, that's a true quality studio that makes lots of good anime right there.
Even as a Chuuni fan, I feel this is unnecessary. The series ended on a completed note and there are a number of OVAs to add more to the fun and show more of the characters interacting. Honestly, it will be nice seeing the cast come back but the fear is that it will just be a season filled with nothing but "comedy" and that will end up defining the show as exactly what people think at first glance: A moe show with no depth and stupid jokes. Praying that KyoAni don't take it down the sequel-ruining route.
But on the other hand, I feel there is a chance here to develop the main pair's relationship and actually solve their issues little by little, instead of going "fuck that shit lol BANISHMENT DIS WARUDO!"

they actually didn't include another main character from the light novels, they'd probably put her in the mix.
Well it's loosely based considering the fact that Dekomori is an original character for the anime, meaning she doesn't even exist in the novels
On that note Rika's older sister Toka and Kumin are anime original too. but yeah it's weird they created new characters for the anime and left out Satone from the novels

They had trouble with Tamako's sales. They went for the safe option of a proven IP. Chuu2's sales were one of the best in the last few years.
Safe option would have been FMP.
Safest option would have been Haruhi
And neither of these two IPs are for KyoAni to decide, but the original rights holder (Kadokawa in Haruhi's case).
Umm, the teaser for this aired at the end of Tamako's last episode. This has obviously been in the pipeline for a while. They didn't just decide this now because Tamako underperformed. These things just don't happen that fast.
Probably 'cause people were surprised at how much depth it actually had for a KyoAni big-eyed show.
