Full Metal Alchemist and Silver Spoon mangaka Hiromu Arakawa’s latest manga has been announced as being yet another adaptation of fantasy novel series The Heroic Legend of Arslan, perplexing fans.
The announcement has already met with a mixed reaction – although Arslan enjoys some popularity, it has already been adapted into both anime and (shoujo) manga versions in the early nineties, and there is particular concern about the unfinished novel series having apparently been abandoned by its author years ago.

Older, white-haired Ed?
Well my name is Arslan,
I am a legend :)
You shall survive in a monster-infested world in solitude, except for that dog that refuses to abandon you.
You shall talk to marionettes and busts in the video shops like they are real people because you are lonely.
Ok I'm speaking for the entire anime community to this author:
Please, learn to make different character models. Everything is just Ed or the fuhrer after FMA.
That's Arakawa's weakness. Her characters look too much alike. Yet at the same time it is also her greatest strength. She posses a godlike skill to make characters distinguishable even thought they look very similar. Hell, FMA has the prime examples of this in the form of Father and Hohenheim and Young Father and Ed. In both cases they are physically identical, yet the different attitude and demeanor makes them look completely different.
Father has more wrinkles.
Yeah. Distinguishable IN-SERIES. Not so easy when comparing series, as you said, since her characters look so freakin similar.
This is amazing, this was written originally by the author of Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
what do they mean by another? full metal alchemist or juushin enbu were some kind of adaptation?
"yet another adaptation of fantasy novel series The Heroic Legend of Arslan"
can't wait.I've seen the anime many years ago and it was pretty decent yet it leaves some questions unanswered hopefully they gonna reboot some anime like Ninja Scroll(OAV's considered a classic but the series was awful) or Bastard!
Same here, I think it was promising and well done storywise, I'd like to see a continuation.
finally after wait for sooooooo long some one will continue Legend of arslan
i hope to see end of this story
Moar Guibu, finally :D
From the mind of creator of Legend of Galactic Heroes and Tytania.
Some of the greatest stories ever made.
Saw the anime once. Well, half of it. It was bad. Really.
Fuck... there is no way now that I can't read this as a drunken Irishman making fun of a land he hates.
Wow, this whole comment section is pure grey.
moar like pure ghey amirite?
so is it going to be reanimated?
already have an ova, search for it
Anon above asked about a 'reanimation' = remake...
You stated there already is an OVA, which btw is quite nice, though it has lots of problems and a stupid, abrupt, open 'ending'...
So, a remake would be a nice idea and thanks to Arakawa there is a good chance to see one in a couple of years.
Perhaps the author will share notes with Arakawa and let her go from there.
Why should this be reanimated ?
Why not? The original OVAs were nice, though flawed. A continuation is out of question, so there'd have to be a remake. With Arakawa writing an adaption, which is bound to be successful, the chances of an anime are good.
Why not animate this: a mature story with murder, war, rape, political intrigues, etc.?
Oh wait, then there will be one slot less for LN harem / pseudo-romance / comedy / fanservice / moe / gay swimmers (yes, this one had to be^^) etc. adaptions or from one of the countless incomplete 201X manga, which get animated just to promote source material sales....
END rant lolroflrotoscopeswimmerskthxbye
doesnt sound bad
"unfinished novel series having apparently been abandoned by its author years ago"
Why would any author do something like this? At least end it properly even if it's rushed by getting axed or something but don't half-ass it!
hiromu arakawa is a genious, she can think in an awesome ending by herself.
"genious"... Love how that word rings when misspelled :)
"as being yet another adaptation of fantasy novel series The Heroic Legend of Arslan"
"already been adapted into [...] (shoujo) manga versions in the early nineties"
Erm... having ONE manga adaption (which btw is over 20 years old, 1991-1996) does not equal 'ANOTHER adaption of'...
If the author meant 'another novel adaption' or 'another adaption by Arakawa' it would be different... but come on, in this case it's invalid.
Just nitpicking lol
Liked the OVA so will happily read this once it's out, maybe it will get a manga original ending?
In the legend of arslan, Edward has white hair and wield swords
"shoujo"
well, won't be reading this.
more of this crap
Yoshiki Tanaka is automatically win in my book.
Wow? Last one was about Horse ... Now it's about the whole kingdom?
A kingdom for a horse. Also, it was about daily lives of farmers and their share of troubles. Something most ingrates wouldn't know about.
I like Silver Spoon and that unsociable horse!
his characters become more and more fat / wide, don't you think? XD
You mean "her" character
shure sorry XP
Well, 20 years can do that to ya, y'know...
Honestly, I'm pretty ecstatic that I am not the only one who's noticed that.
Hmm... An animated Lion will be fine too.
Oh jeez.. no scandal, no moe, not a ranking of recent anime.. why is this even on Sankaku? Not like anyone here cares about Arakawa-sensei
DIE SHIT HEAD!

closed.
Well what do you expect from a mangaka with little to no talent?
Never read her series but I can tell that she has a lot of talent unlike you
Funny coming from someone who has accomplished nothing. Just sayin'.
Especially when the person who posted that could be Bill Gates. Stop being so ignorant.
Clearly the first post in this wasn't even thinking of the possibility that it might turn out well. FMA was successful, even the manga. I hear Silver Spoon will have its anime in july but hey, someone assuming the author of those series has little to no talent could be Bill Gates or someone important.
Fappable shows are everywhere anon10:05. Either you are turned on by the author's art and disappointed you have to imagine fap material from her works or you just got tired of fappable shows because clearly you are expecting something from the author
Sigh... if it's gonna be a shitty show at least make it fappable...
No that's ignorant
For all you know I could be Steve Jobs. Once again, stop being ignorant. Think about all the possibilities before posting something, dont just make assumptions based on your mood towards what a persons opinion is.
