Funny how many people either complain about moe anime or how this particular show is a 'disgrace to Lovecraft'.
1. Using an existing setting/creatures/etc. for an original story is not rare at all. What about MMORPGs featuring elves, dwarves and orcs? Tolkien created some of them, others come from myths and folklore. In short: this is Lovecraft in name only... also it is a parody anime/novel lol
2. There are plenty of moe anime, so you can complain in every thread about these, too. Aren't you sick of the same argument over and over again? Why not stick to non-moe anime instead of venting your frustration...
3. The number of moe anime is huge, but I think there are two bigger problems with the industry: the heavy use of ecchi in almost every show... even serious and mature shows, seinen, all feature fanservice, because they fear bad sales. 'Let's make this anime with an awesome deep plot... but will this sell? Let's just add some nudity here and there, cute girls, bishounen and it'll work!' -> ridiculous
If they were to release 'Monster', 'LotGH' 'Death Note' etc. nowadays, they'd be filled with ecchi, moe and other stuff.
The other issue are incomplete shows to promote light novels and manga... Most anime are 1-cour, at max 2-cour. LN/Manga sales get a boost, but there won't be further anime seasons. And what about all those adaptions from sources that exist only since 1 or 2 years ago? Only there to promote sales! Older source material is not interesting, so there won't be continuations.
Those are some of the real issues.. so get over the anti-moe hate and look at problem at hand. I mean: not only do many anime get worse in terms of ecchi+moe+bad plot, most shows simply won't get a conclusion! And nobody is bothered by that -_-

Cant get enough of nyaruko san, besides that point this is one of the only few good moe/ecchi/romance/comedy anime's that isnt generic or incredibly lame to watch, and to be honest this anime isnt half bad compared to most "moe, moe," anime
yes probably the ending sequence was the best part. this time they were to high on weed, and totally kept forgetting about the plot to the point it totally lost any sense.

is it worth it? yes, if you want to know the history. Although it's not necessary, you can watch the 1st season because it is actually hilarious. I usually never laugh because I find anime humor not so funny, and actually boring, but I can say this is really hilarious.
