Why would you even be watching this if the story was exactly the same? It's exactly because they are different, so people can enjoy both without totally getting bored seeing the same thing the second time.
I expecting to watch an anime adaptation with similar story with its source because when I expect to see the character that I already familiar to be moving, talking, in colorful environment, as opposed to not moving, black and white manga or picture-less light novel.. and not to see a new character or watching a completely new plot.
I read manga/light novel cause I like the story/character, change that in anime mean I have to reconsider if I like it or not(like reading a new manga, its a new story after all), and more often the animator team failed to deliver a better experience than what the original source manage.
Main plot, character look/behavior/relationship and key moment have to remain faithful to the source, extra additional plot/character that not affecting that is OK for me. But if it change, then it is a big NO for me.
Have you considered that perhaps you overestimate manga readers.

Tropes such as this one make a poor character play. Add to that a filler-felt story and, voila, all that remains is dwelling on the first season strong moments.
Come on, why does Kyousuke has more shouts than normal speech so far? Even twice on that gag with center girl appearance. Somehow I don't think that great production staff not having better things to do with screentime is the case.
Maybe Kyousuke's seiyuu is still stuck in 'maniac mode' from his part in the new Blazblue.
And at the character level, Kirino's return means more nightime eroge research. Lack of sleep does it to you. He should befriend Izayoi Sakuya the way Hayate probably has.
E3, different but still enjoyable... its nice to see the backgrounds of the characters, did they ever do one for kuroneko? loved to see her background as well
