Hm, I thought Haruhi would've been higher than SAO, Zero would've been a bit higher up, and High School DxD would've been on the list...
Where the hell is Baccano?
It's stuck being an anime you either hate or love within the first 2 episodes.
Sure is shit taste in Japan.
You mean KyoAni crapping some yaoi shit? Yup.
Yaoi no, male Ecchi yes. Getting women into anime may save the lives of many Otaku.
Good to see Leon is back.
So where's Helena?
The same place SquareSoft went...
Purgatory?
In my opinion, Full Metal Panic should be higher on the list, but at least it's on the list and not forgotten about.
now if only they animated the final volumes
As should Durarara! be. Even though it's out there @ 11th, it should be higher, compared to most of top 10 in the list..
Monogatari series should be right up top for best anime adaption of a light novel.
*Cough*Toradora*Cough*
He said 'best' not 'worst'.
then Seikai no Senki (Crest/Banner of the Stars)
That's right anonymous because you don't have the balls to say it
Toradora!! was good, and compared to Haruhi it should be the leader in terms of writing quality, since it was able to provoke attachment to the characters and their emotions much easier.
However, it's not on this list because Haruhi is a sales giant and MOE purists will praise it to death in blind faith. (ha, reference)
Sword Art Online? Get the fuck outta here with that shit.
Seeing Aria only a little under it leads me to assume it's a troll-voted list.
Read fall of the scarlet ammo and overtune's fine arc, its awesome!!!
Read up till GGO arc. It's pretty cool if animated
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG SAO!!! SAO!! DA BEST ANIMU IN FOREVERZ SAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! KIRITO SO COOL!!!
About one tenth of the people reading this comment will agree with you. 3 tenths will laugh at you. The rest will facepalm.
Meh list, Not sure why SOA is so popular, the LN was okay but the anime adaption was pretty bad.
i wanna hurt the people who voted for Swoard art online. Haruhi needs to be #1.
Your Opinion is Incorrect.
There is no such thing as an incorrect opinion. That's what makes it an OPINION. My opinion is that S&W should now and forever be No.1, but clearly not enough people share that idea.
Im happy that denpa and oda nobuna is on there
Here's why you can never trust these rankings ever:
1/11/13 - Top 15 Anime Based on Light Novels
SAO - #2
Haruhi - #9
Sukunai - #6
Infinite Stratos - #1
Spice and Wolf - #14
4/21/13 - Top 25 Anime Based on Light Novels
SAO - #1
Haruhi - #2
Sukunai - #18
Infinite Stratos - Not Ranked
Spice and Wolf - Not Ranked
Seriously?
Well, I assume that the reason Infinite Stratos and Spice and Wolf have dropped so far off the list that they aren't even ranked anymore is because otaku these days have short memories. That'd explain the sharp decline of both of them.
Then again, the hole in that assumption is the fact that Sukunai dropped so far as well, on top of the fact that others that aren't so recent moved up the rankings (e.g., Accel World, Shana, Durarara!).
Nonetheless, no Sankaku regular takes the lists seriously anymore. Most of us just look at them for laughs these days, much like I'm doing right now. Basically, you're just preaching to the choir.
THIS.
Seriously, any anime older than 2 years gets completely forgotten nowadays
Japan's cheap on the waifu's - love em one season, move on to a new waifu the next.
But in all seriousness, you're right, as much of a shame as it is to admit it.
I can't really agree with you, because older novels/anime are still right there on the list.
Well, of course. I plainly admitted in my own comment earlier that the assumption wasn't 100% correct, for the very same reason you pointed out.
As always, there could be other factors involved, such as the majority of the fanbase's "favorite animes" actually shifting around a bit. With these sorts of things, you have to weigh in storylines, character designs and depth, how well it made the transition from LN to anime, and just plain old personal preference (read: bias).
For the most part, and as is usually seen on any "rankings" on this site, it's just safe to assume that the whole "short memory" aspect is what's making up the majority of this list.
While I agree partially having read a great handful of these light novels and having watched everything on the previous list mentioned and this list, I have to say perspectively it makes sense. Feelings in the present are more passionate than those in the past. Although to be honest Infinite Stratos Anime was crap compared to its manga and novel, and spice and wolf was good but niche (I liked 1st season a ton but 2nd was less but still good).
Also besides subber fans SAO was pretty widely liked in Japan due to their access to the light novels which didn't cut off in the 2nd of 3 arcs of a prologue.
I wouldn't have payed attention to Spice and Wolf as a novel, but as an anime it got me more interested in economics than any teacher could.
The japanese otaku are know for their serious case of ADD
So many new anime/light novels come they forget about the old ones.. Spice & Wolf always my #1 <3
Sankaku also said at one point that SAO was over-rated (so very true) thn they turn it into one of the animes we are most likely to forget thn create another list and say its one of the most memorable animes of last year. when it comes to sankaku it doesnt take a dog to smell bs....
No fate zero and kara no kyoukai?
I prefer Full Metal Panic!
FFS, Spice & Wolf!
dont just make a poll on a popular LN after the anime comes out, make a poll on how much it sells, thus telling how popular it is.
hows that?
Cut SAO and Aria, and we have a fine list.
Hidan no Aria is an awesome novel, the anime may not be accurate unlike the manga :)
It's top 25 anime based on LN, not top 25 LN that have got an anime adaptation.
What is this list? Obviously #1 is...
Fate/Zero. Or is it because there isn't enough moe in it and it actually has a story?
Maybe its story is too deep for some of the people who voted.
