Just as announced, utterly derivative if enduringly popular mecha harem anime Infinite Stratos is receiving a new anime – and according to the new trailer, it is to be a full reboot rather than a mere second season.
The trailer:
Although much of the staff and seiyuu remain the same, a change in character designer from Tomoyasu Kurashima to Kumi Horii has already aroused some fan scepticism.

WTF!!!
Uh? Why a reboot?
I've read the first 2 volumes of the novel and the anime was pretty much faithful to it...
Yeah, they should continue animating the novel until it reaches the part where it reboots!
Really? I don't keep up with any light novels, but all this reboot business over the past few months has been leading me to think otherwise.... does the anime cover up to volume 2, or do you still need to go through the 3rd volume before you're completely sure?
the name of 2nd season is called reboot.... not a reboot of 1st season....
Because its not a Reboot, that's what it's called
that reboot must be like the matrix "reloaded" being the sequel of movie 1
so that "reboot" thing maybe is just the 2nd season
Ya cause we really need more steam
Because we need more charlotte.
iichika no ecchi
She was literally the only reason I sat through that show.
That aside, why a reboot of all things?
totally agree
Laura > Charlotte
The anime shouldn't be a reboot. It's actually the light novel that got a reboot. It's the exact same content, but with a different artist.
Well to me it looks as if they are continuing from where the first season of the anime left off because they showcased Tatenashi and Kanzashi in the trailer (and they don't appear in the light novel until after the events of the first season). Furthermore, the series is called "Infinite Stratos 2", so it wouldn't make sense for them to restart the anime with a name like that. I'm pretty sure that the "reboot" that this article is referring to is in regards to the light novel. I could be wrong, but I really do hope that they continue the anime from where they left off.
That's not reboot.
Notice how the title right now Infinite Stratos 2?
The one that gets reboot is the LN not the Anime.
I was thinking that. How is it a reboot if the title says Infinite Stratos 2 with new characters
This can't be a reboot, the anime basically follows the LN like 95% of the time. This looks like a strait second season
Season 1 ended at 3rd volume of LN. Tatenashi and her sister appears in 5 and 7, so i'm guessing this season will cover 4-7.
I hope it lasts until vol 8. StuCo president was fun, but seeing the lucky boy suffer in her absence is even better...
1 new girl in each ep? how many can 1 have??
11-13 or maybe even 25 if it spans 2 seasons
I'm no fan of many harem animes but i think the first season was pretty well done, so a reboot would make no sense to me, hopefully it's a real season 2! I would love that ^.^
I would too!
I hope it'll be 25eps this time.
sankaku, get your damn facts straight... it's a 2nd season... what got "rebooted" is the LN with new designs and illustrations...
More harem fanservice for me
> and according to the new trailer, it is to be a full reboot rather than a mere second season
With sisters Sarashiki? You kidding?
Seems like it will have name "Infinite Stratos 2 Re:boot", and will be continuation of first season.
Oh no it's that stupid male protagonist again...
The dense baka
If they made him smart, IS would finish in one episode
He would bang the British one? Or actually six-time all the chicks in the show?
He would marry them all then proclaim himself as the king of the world of IS to justify it if he was smart.
That's an odd way to spell French.
Yeah, because harem anime NEVER have a stupid lead protagonist...
but never this stupid.
Honestly, they can be shy, unconfident, good-hearted, even gay is OK. But no one can explain me, that a 16 years old boy living in a developed country doesn't get a pecker in his pants if 6 girls are rubbing their half naked body against him. But seeing ichiga 11 episodes long (then I had to stop this anime because I could not take him anylonger) I am dead serious he would ask them "if they do not feel well".
No, I stay with my comment: "It's that stupid male protagonist again" - because Ichika is without any doubt the most stupid, while unrealistic male lead I have ever encountered in a Harem. If season 2 doesn't reveal that he is either asexual or a eunuch I'm done with this show.
The girls are sexy but I can't sympathize with this guy.
If one of the girls "wins", then congratulations, you've just pissed off the fans of all the other girls!
No "harem" ever has a winner because of this.
Calm down. Anime is hardly realistic with anything, so why should it be with the behavior of the male lead and that is not even the most unrealistic aspect of this particular series. It seems like you had some moral issue with his behavior or something. I thought he was great and pretty funny at times.
what abt rito from toloveru lol.
Tomoya Okazaki wasn't stupid, imo.
Ichika's denseness in on a different level though. Amazingly, it gets even worse in the novels with his inner monologues.
Rito doesn't wanna choose one because he doesn't wanna hurt the others. He knows damn well they all like him, but choosing one of them would really hurt the other girls, so he tries as best as he can to stay neutral. Though I am really sick of the donkan protagonist character type, its really getting old, almost every single vn and anime uses this for their main char, especally if its a harem type. View http://vndb.org/g505 for info on this character type.
But anyway yeah, way to many use this type of male protagonist and its getting a tad annoying.
One of the reasons why I liked the Majikoi VN so much was that Naoe wasn't incompetent in every aspect.
Ichika is so dense if his hair caught on fire his head would cave in and create a black hole.
1. Anime gets 2nd season.
2. LN is "rebooted" (seems like okiura quit, so they can't reprint novels with old illustrations, and new ones) with new art from http://chan.sankakucomplex.com/post/index?tags=choco
He didn't quit, another publisher picked up the series and the artist used doesn't work for them. So the art was redrawn for the old novels to match the new novels and avoid copyright claims. Idiots.
i found that out the hard way, im missing vol 7 of the original art covers.
The only question is : "WHEN" ?
If only anime that needed sequels got sequels, and anime that needed reboots/remakes got reboots and remakes. For instance, I know there was no 12-episode Fall 2003 JC Staff adaptation of a certain Type-Moon game, but if there were, it would certainly benefit from a remake. Especially with the game also getting a remake.
If any anime needs as REAL re-boot, would be Rosario + Vampire.
Does anyone with Sankaku actually speak/read japanese or do you just wing it and assume you'll at least get halfway there?
