Ultimate production controversy anime Aku no Hana is still proving as incendiary as ever, with the rotoscope treatment of the original’s “reverse rape” scene setting hearts aflutter for the eventual sex scenes present in the manga, and “fans” generally of the opinion that series could have dominated the season had it been animated properly…

Agreed, if this had been done from a manga/source material that somewhat rezembeled it. This series would have been most liekly well recieved. However, it's based on something that noware near resembles it. Thus gaining an instant hate/ strong dislike as a result.
I could put up with the style if Nakamura was at least attractive. Being both ugly and creepy just makes her a completely unappealing character.

man, i am FUCKING loving this, three episodes in. Story is disturbing and the soundtrack - especially the end credits ghost/robot thing - is mindblowing. My favourite thing about it, is that it's causing entitled moetard otaku, across the land, to piss their panties in rage because "BAWWWWWW, it doesm't look how WE expect it to look! Bawwwwww wahhh wahhhh !". I mean, god forbid the makers follow their own vision. Well duh, that is THE kind of scene you use rotoscoping for. Basic animation direction 101. Has been done to great effect in countless traditionally manga-styled anime.
