“Otaku Fashion” Most Loathed by Japanese Women

Japanese women quizzed on how they expect their menfolk to dress have yet again made it clear that even eternal virginity is too good for those who insist on dressing like creepy otaku, singling out the archetypal staple of otaku “fashion” – a checked shirt tucked into a pair of jeans with rucksack riding high on both shoulders – for persistent scorn.
Of the women put to question, 55.7% reported having seen men with clothes they thought abject fashion failures – unsurprisingly, otaku fashion featured highly:
“I once saw a guy in his forties wearing an anime T-shirt…” – 33-year-old real estate agent
“When they wear their rucksacks high like that, everyone can spot them as an otaku a mile off.” – 25-year-old technician
“The most otaku-ish of all – a checked shirt and jeans!” – 24-year-old food technician
“Checked shirts and rucksacks, those are the most otaku of all, I wouldn’t be seen dead walking with someone like that!” – 29-year-old IT worker
Closely related were complaints about deviants who insist on tucking in their shirts:
“Shirt tucked in, worst fashion choice ever.” – 27-year-old office worker
“Shirts tucked into their trousers, even my dad doesn’t do that!” – 27-year-old food worker
“When they have shirts in their pants, and the size isn’t a good fit.” – 23-year-old wholesaler
Other complaints concentrated on a lack of cleanliness, and fashion choices which were “too individualistic”:
“Clothes which are just too lively and individual are just creepy.” – 28-year-old wholesaler
“The ones who try too hard – like they come to a wedding where you’d wear a normal suit, but wearing a bow-tie or a distinctive shirt?” – 31-year-old food worker
Misfitting clothes, trousers worn around the hips, “wagara” Japanese patterns, pointie shoes, unseasonable clothing, “B-kei” (hiphop) or “V-kei” (visual) fashion and styles associated with middle-aged or middle-school males were all also singled out for opprobrium.

مرحبا أنا من السعودية جزيره العرب. أنا أوتاكو.
Sorry, Mario, your bomb is in another castle.
Hey man, am arabic and that's racist...
but seriously it made laugh
lol, I see what you did there
And that other castle is located somewhere between Waco and Hillsboro, Texas...
they are just jealous of the 2d waifu's
Exactly, they're like it should be my face on the shirt.
Is this some kind of Mary Magdalene joke again?
And then people wonder why there are so many shut-ins these days. You can't even go out of the house these days without people staring at you criticizing your clothes and generaly looking down at your existence because of two pieces of cloths.
and this is different from the objectification put to women, how?
lol no
this is not about women it's about people in general
you were quick to jump to that when he made no mention of gender at all...
the story WAS about women judging men though...
this comment it makes so much sense that im actually suprised
LOL on being a shut in because someone criticizes your clothes. How about growing a pair instead of being a shut in?
I personally believe that clothes are tools in society...wear the right clothes for a specific audience and things go easier for you. Wear the wrong clothes at a time you need something from a specific audience & things go harder for you. Your identity should be thought of as completly indepedent of the social tools you wear to gain the upper hand in social situations. You have be smarter than others about this kind of thing to manipulate outcomes in your favor rather than stubbornly think of cloth as some kind of identity statement.
I wouldn't really care what a 'food technician' thinks to be honest...
Food Technician = Burger-Flipper-@-McDonald's doesn't it?
you mean... like sponge bob?
Except she's not retar... uh... wait a minute.... you might be onto something there.
Or it could be one of those Japanese scientists who managed to recycle feces into (supposedly) edible meat.... it's some nasty work, either way.
as if that word actually exists...... you just want to tag a certain typ of person and want to disregard his opinion... like your opinion is worth more.... which is not.
“Clothes which are just too lively and individual are just creepy.”

I also gotta add... what's wrong with checkered shirts?
Because it's Japan, not Canada. There aren't too many real lumberjacks in the Land of the Rising Sun.
@09:58
Put that way, it sounds like some of the manliest fashion in existence.
Still don't think I'd wear it, though... doesn't look comfortable to me (I very much prefer light clothing).
I don't think that's really the point, those girls probably don't really even know about Canada (besides, however they may dress, they do have forestry industry in Japan, while they don't really chop the forests).
I'd bet the "style" of the checkered shirts is more of a direct consequence of the fact that is was the ninties style, and then stuck with otakus after the "apex". Notice that even the rucksack is "style", in the sense that even in the conventions and shit you might carry a bag and that would almost surely be less "otaku".
tl;dr I'd watch an animu about cute lumberjacks cutting cutesely trees.
Probably whatever's wrong with plaid.
Plaid is great, as long as its on her cuit miniskirt.
It is different, nobody wear that outside their home, and stand out too much.. and being a Japanese standing out is not a things should be embraced..
If you tuck your shirt into your pants it really is pretty gross.
This one always confuses me. I was always taught to wear my shirt tucked in way back in grade school (along with all the other students around me, and carrying all the way through high school, from what I can remember), and pretty much always have. That people would have problems with someone wearing their shirt tucked in just seems the most bizarre sort of bias.
Come on, its back to the 60'.
I wont call it a gross, a poo fall on your face, is what I will label gross..
Maybe it look nerdier, or look too formal/tidy to tuck shirt into the pant. People usually go with more relaxing dress, or "wild style" when go for a walk or a date, tuck in cloth at such place look out of place.
Tuck in cloth work well if you are in office.

gross? I dunno if I'd go that far, but I can't say I bother with it, personally. I wear for comfort, and not having my shirt air out (it's hot quite often in California) just doesn't sit right with me.
The only exception to this is a formal suit, or other formal clothing...
And ripped models. They look good in anything.
Hell yeah!
Wait, you were talking about ripped girls in suits, right?
GO DIE SHIT HEAD!
TOKYO SOON TO BE NUKED!
LOL U MAD BRO?
Ya mums a horde haha first time I ever seen that :P That should be on a shirt :)
I loled @CAPS LOCK HERO
Why do you look angry all the time ? :3
ya mums a HORDE!
A horde is a very large group of unruly people. I don't think you can have more than one 'mum'.
I think his many moms contribute an organ each, which would explain his mental state.
Maybe it was a "Yo mama is so fat..." joke?
FOR THE HORDE!
Lets just face it, Japanese women or women in general dont care about anything as long as you have a ripped set of pecs, a lot of money and a huge dick. Clothing is meaningless if you have all three.
women in general arent like that. theres a LOT of cute girls out there that have actual brains and are attracted to guys for their character. a lot of them arent actually as shallow as we guys are. some girls have always been like this, some develop this at age 20+, and the remainder of them realize this when they are past 30 and they discover that all the good guys have been taken. i know this from personal experience. dont lose hope on 3D just yet. dont let the good girls out there settle for scumbag guys.
Hope that's the case.
a huge dick? Not quite. I believe it's a thick dick they're looking for. I recall Sankaku mentioning a poll on that some years back.
So sad how shallow this is and yet rings true for most women.
Yet lots of people on here wouldn't even accept a model because they're not as pretty as an anime girl... and then complain that women are too shallow.
I think that's more people here realizing they lack the body, money, or penis size and then rationalizing their failure with supermodels in such as way that it's even less so their own fault.
But the thing is, if you're fit and in shape then you'll look good in pretty much any decent pair of clothing.
"Yet lots of people on here wouldn't even accept a model because they're not as pretty as an anime girl... and then complain that women are too shallow."
That is true, to some extend, but it do not make the Japanese woman and their too high income expectation from their partner, obsession with pretty boy(there are news on a guy dating 100 girls) any less of a fact.
they seem to dislike a great deal of things...
Damn MOETARDS a fucking disgrace, I pity them poor souls.
Truer words cannot be spoken
only one of them things were correct =P
