Have you watched the whole series? I don't know about the manga, because I have not read it, but in the anime he does quite a bit and protects the girls. I liked him and the series overall.

This could be good. I liked the first Maken ki anime. I liked Kanokon and Ladies Vs. Butlers too, but I didn't care too much for the faces.
From generic harem art style in to generic moe/fanservice art style, old art style was better.

You are not exactly correct. What I was trying to say is that the amount work and time invested into creating this anime, which, as people jokingly say, shall be watched for "the plot", could have been used to create another 12 episodes of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, which, in turn, has a very good plot without quotations. I also afraid there won't be a second season of Maoyuu any time because, since, as it seems, it wasn't that popular (and by popularity I mean good sales). And yet we receive a second season of a wimpy-wishy-washy-hero-harem-fanservice anime, the first season of which, as far as I remember, was not very popular either. Another thing, I personally get the feeling that there has been way too much fanservice in the anime industry. And if fanservice animes are in demand by the majority of Japanese viewers, then it's a very sad and negative tendency. Or maybe the studio is having financial and/or management troubles. Remeber what happened to Gonzo, which made two seasons of Rosario+Vampire, stuffed it with mountains of fanservice and went bankrupt afterwards.

what is the the admin's standard for generic because a lot of anime that dont have out there styles like Aku no Hana with is hideous rotoscope or sayonara zetsubo sensei with more of a geometric shapes influencing how the characters are drawn can be considered "generic".
Not really, the ecchi quality did not live up to the standards of the manga at all. Especially when it came to nipples. Thankfully, and as you can see, Hiraku Kaneko does not cut back when it comes to nipple work!

I didn't see too much a problem with the old design to be honest, but I guess the no-nose design works.
It weird, the one that turned out to be a dude, I actually felt something off about even before I learned was really a guy.
