Girl 95% Burned Trying To Save Ill Mother

The tale of a girl who sustained horrific burns to almost all of her body trying to save her mother from their burning home has been attracting much sympathy in China of late.
The 13-year-old girl was playing on the roof of the Henan province building she called home, when a fire broke out in her 2nd storey residence.
Knowing her mother was ill and bedridden, she rushed home to save her, ignoring the burning building around her.
Unfortunately, just as she arrived a gasoline can stored in their residence ignited, engulfing her in flames.
Despite 95% burns to her body she was rescued from the building alive, and has clung to life for the 20 days since the accident.
With tragically predictable pathos, when she regained consciousness in hospital, her first act was to ask after her parents.
One of the hospital doctors treating her has reportedly paid for the 20,000 yuan cost of her treatment so far, although it is not clear what her future prospects are.

This is a real tragedy...Also, if I was that badly burned, and my parents died as well, despite my best efforts to save them, then I would have asked the hospital staff to please just let me die...I wouldn't want to live like that...The girl must have a strong will, and this is really admirable. My best wishes to her.

The girl has ZERO chance of living. Her skin is cooked, not just the thin upper layers. Her arms and legs are dead. Infection will kill her. While most of her nerves are dead, she is in pain.
This is not about playing GOD... its about helping someone, a child... to not suffer.

The original source I came across was worded to suggest she died, but some double-checking against other sources does suggest this was in error - I've updated the article, although unfortunately it is still not clear whether she actually "rescued" her as such.

I bet they can't even cut the burned clothes off. They should euthanize her. It's a very cruel fate.
I feel for the girl but really, it isn't because it's china, it's more like being exposed to the elements of the world in general that will make life hard to hold onto for her unfortunately. She is most likely to get deathly sick without the skin acting as a barrier to stop microbes from getting in.

95% burned? Is just impossible to survive, I got 3rd burn once so I know perfectly well what I'm talking about.

I can understand the chances for survival are abysmally low for this poor girl. I just hope she doesn't spend the remainder of her life in too much pain. This is one of the worst possible things for a person to live though.

There have been cases where ppl have survived 98% burns in the past. Things do happen.
And people who survived from napalm strike.
There are even people who actually came back from the dead.
There are people who get shoot in the forehead and live, but if you had to bet...
1st degree burns vs 3rd degree burns...
Like having a pot of boiling water thrown on you... shouldn't kill you.
This poor girl is very very badly burned, she shouldn't be alive. infection will kill her. Nothing is going to repair or replace her skin or muscles.
She was cooked alive.
1) 3rd degree burns are full thickness type not superficial (1st degree).
2) Having boiling water thrown at you can kill.
You can survive fist degree burns on most of your body but what she got is third degree burns. There is no hope for her.
People are sturdier than you give them credit. It's possible to survive from almost anything which doesn't destroy the brain, as long as it's treated in time.
That said, "in time" may mean 10 hours or 10 seconds depending on the injury in question.
No it is not possible to survive this. She is holding on, but death will come shortly. This is a fact for this type of burn. The body can not heal itself from something like that.
I still have never heard about someone surviving being cut in half, even if the brain is intact.
It could be done medically, the problem is that they'd have be treated almost immediately after the incident which is next to impossible

I think if you're actually in a life or death situation such as that, you'll find your will to live suddenly becomes a whole lot stronger...
If anything, I'm astonished she was even capable of getting down the street, because from what I understand her balls must be the size of trucks to go into a burning building while failing to hesitate.

But that was a secondary explosion, after the fire had already started. The question is, what exploded to *start* the fire? A computer monitor? A carrot? A condom?
