Girl 95% Burned Trying To Save Ill Mother

tragic-burned-schoolgirl (1)

The tale of a girl who sustained horrific burns to almost all of her body trying to save her mother from their burning home has been attracting much sympathy in China of late.

The 13-year-old girl was playing on the roof of the Henan province building she called home, when a fire broke out in her 2nd storey residence.

Knowing her mother was ill and bedridden, she rushed home to save her, ignoring the burning building around her.

Unfortunately, just as she arrived a gasoline can stored in their residence ignited,  engulfing her in flames.

Despite 95% burns to her body she was rescued from the building alive, and has clung to life for the 20 days since the accident.

With tragically predictable pathos, when she regained consciousness in hospital, her first act was to ask after her parents.

One of the hospital doctors treating her has reportedly paid for the 20,000 yuan cost of her treatment so far, although it is not clear what her future prospects are.

I think if you're actually in a life or death situation such as that, you'll find your will to live suddenly becomes a whole lot stronger...

If anything, I'm astonished she was even capable of getting down the street, because from what I understand her balls must be the size of trucks to go into a burning building while failing to hesitate.

At times like this it almost feels like she should have just died. Not she is destroyed both physically and emotionally. And people, please don't say "At least it didn't explode" now.

    at least it didnt explode

but yeah i dunno wether this is actually good for her or not. Its up to her wether or not it was worth saving her

But that was a secondary explosion, after the fire had already started. The question is, what exploded to *start* the fire? A computer monitor? A carrot? A condom?

She won't be able to,from this kind of burns. Her life is forever changed.Im not trying to be an ass her but it's the fact,i hope someone adopts her and helps her somehow.

    Comment by Anonymous

not trying to be an ass too but she can get plastic surgery. kids born with (for a lack of a better word) 'deformed' faces, often have charity organizations sponsor their surgery to fix their lips, etc.

so, im sure there's hope, so long as she's willing.

I don't want to be an ass but with 95% of her skin burned I doubt that she will live much longer. Just to still be alive is almost a miracle.

An amazing act of self sacrifice.

But yeah even in the developed world your survival rate for 70% 3rd degree burns drops to 1 out of 10. She must have a strong resolve.

Its going to be harder for her if she recover from something like this. She might survive or not ether way it won't matter what prediction or outcome happens.

If she could somehow survive a 95% burn, she qualifies as a shounen manga hero.

lol..."she will never be beautifull again..." "how can she live with it?" If you are burnt to a degree of a piece of COAL your worries would be others than your appeal. Like..."will I survive this day?" Wish you luck in life gentlemen >>

"The skin cell gun has not progressed to the point where it can be used for such advanced wounds, and these patients must seek more traditional treatment methods"

    and

"It is also limited in that it is only effective immediately following the burn incident"

We're getting there, but way, way too late T_T

The original source I came across was worded to suggest she died, but some double-checking against other sources does suggest this was in error - I've updated the article, although unfortunately it is still not clear whether she actually "rescued" her as such.

    Thanks for the correction!

I feel for the girl but really, it isn't because it's china, it's more like being exposed to the elements of the world in general that will make life hard to hold onto for her unfortunately. She is most likely to get deathly sick without the skin acting as a barrier to stop microbes from getting in.

That's such a relief to hear that, I thought from the article that the mother died (since it only mentioned "trying"). It's still horrific what happened to her, but at least she didn't also lose her parents.

I hope she dies quickly and with little pain, burns that severe are a hell that no one should suffer through and I don't honestly expect she'll get adequate enough care to make her life any thing all that happy sadly if she survives.

The only upside is that apart from general shock reaction she doesn't feel pain from her body. Her pain receptors all went to hell together with her skin.

dunno if that's a real upside tbh, keep in mind she's only 13, she has a whole life ahead of her, or what's left of it at least, another sad moment in history

If she was anywhere but China, I would say it's a good thing she survived.
