60% of Japanese Men “Like Girls Young as Possible”

pretty schoolgirl by fukahire sanba

The latest findings about the romantic interests of the Japanese to be inspiring interest are the not entirely surprising statistics that 60%  of Japanese men are interested in females of any age, as long as it is as young as possible.

15,000 Japanese men were quizzed as to how young a girl they would consider valid targets for romance:

Up to 1 year younger: 0.8%
Up to 3 years: 2.6%
Up to 5 years: 9.5%
Up to 10 years: 16.2%
Up to 15 years: 8.6%
Don’t care how young!: :59.4%
Out of the question!:3.0%

Whilst most of the reasons older Japanese men might prefer dating young ladies are obvious, surveys have also regularly demonstrated the stringent standards Japanese women tend to apply to the incomes of their prospective husbands – and with only older men capable of attaining these high levels of financial and professional attainment, it is perhaps as well they are flexible.

As for women, 16,000 were asked how young they would go – and most were clearly not nearly as keen on younger partners as their male counterparts were:

Up to 1 year younger: 4.2%
Up to 3 years: 15.1%
Up to 5 years: 26.1%
Up to 10 years: 15.1%
Up to 15 years: 2.8%
Don’t care how young!: :20.5%
Out of the question!:16.2%

As usual these findings have been widely discussed amongst circles not known for their aversion to young girls themselves:

“Damn all you lolicon!”

“Policeman, over here!”

“Who is surprised by these findings?”

“How is this news?”

“As long as they are not second-hand!”

“So in other words, all men are lolicon.”

“Us Japs are all hentai lolicon. A real creepy set.”

“All my friends married older women… one is 10 years older.”

“Agnes is coming.”

“I’m 30, so up to 22 years younger is my limit.”

“Non-virgins are just sluts!”

“So 60% of Japanese men really are lolicon?”

“I don’t think I could manage an elementary schooler.”

“Young ladies like older guys, older guys like young ladies, it’s love on both sides!”

“You guys are really intent on turning this into a discussion of your fantasies, aren’t you?”

“It’s a bit weird that 100 years ago adults were marrying 15-year-olds and now this is treated as child predation.”

“Well, back then it would have been someone who waited until after 20 who was abnormal.”

“It hardly matters what age guys they asked. It’s 18-29 women for all of them, no doubt.”

“What about all the older hags who like younger guys? In fact, don’t younger guys become appealing if you get older?”

“They used to get married at 12, and still do in places. Aside from the social taboos we have now it is really not all that abnormal that men like young girls, it’s only natural.”

“The problem is with the queston – they should have included an explicit age range or it is meaningless.”

“Women are like balls!
14 = rugby balls, with 30 guys chasing them.
18 = footballs, with 22 guys after them.
24 = hockey pucks, with 8 guys looking to hit on them.
35 = ping pong balls, with 2 guys batting them towards each other.
48 = golf balls, with 1 guy slowly strolling after them.
60 = dodge balls, with everyone trying to get out of their way.
88 = bowling balls, everyone is quietly trying to roll them down the alley.”

“Any age is fine – as long as they’re 2D!”

Depends on your own age too. When I was in elementary school, no one would hang out with someone a grade below them. In high school, over half my friends were a grade below. In my 20s, I'd go out with a girl a year or two younger. In my 30s, I'd go out with a girl in her mid 20s.

I heard a magic formula for it ages ago and it seems to work well:

    Her age >= (Your age / 2) + 7

It doesn't make sense until you're an adolescent, but after that, it seems pretty sensible.

If you mean teenagers, yes, because we all used to be teens and, most likely, felt attracted to the opposite gender at such age and, therefore, that feeling still lingers no matter how old we are, not to mention that, male or female, a teenager CAN look attractive and have a rough definition of "love".

Now, if you mean actual children and/or toddlers...... you may want to save some money for a psychologist, my friend. Remember: lolicon is fine, but pedophilia is not.

Ah, well, I forgot to make the distinction... By "lolicon", I meant the western definotion of the word. I forgot that, in Japan, the word actually applies for pedophiles as well... But yes, I meant the "foreign" meaning of drawn underage girls only.

It has nothing to do with having being teenagers, it has everything to do with being male. Male sexual drive is directed towards youth. No matter how old you get you will want to have sex with a young girl. Females get unattractive as they get older very quickly for us.

Speak for yourself. I'm far more turned on by the idea of experience over innocence, and I don't see experience when I look at someone who looks like a baby or something cute that I would rather pet on the head. When I found out my girlfriend, who's older than me, already had sex a few years ago, it made her even hotter in my eyes.

There might be some indirect truth to this, because the most noticeable size change affecting penises would be in the form of erection (I counted priapism as the rarer option when deciding on the default here). Younger ladies, being, other things being equal, the more attractive, are more likely to give them one to, as you put it, assuage their worries, if that's what the game ever was about.

On the other hand, looking at character popularity polls from The Land of Blossoming Cherry, somehow the precocious early teens consistently lose out to their older versions. Say, Nagi Sanzenin vs Tennousu Athene/Maria/Hinagiku.

You know going for younger is by natural design, right? Younger is healthier and more capable of childbirth. More eggs, too. We're designed to be breeding at a young age. The older we have children, the more our DNA has deteriorated.

Society adds extra factors to consider, such as personal desires (eg. career) and financial situation. Humans also tend to fail at raising children responsibly, which is not always related to the age of the parents.

The other problem is the mortality rate of mothers in childbirth, which seems to have always been a problem.

I also like how "10 years younger" is equal to "lolicon". When the guy in question is 40 she'd still be 30 and WAY above lolicon age.

It's survey with typical "harmless" questions that then goes on to obstruct essential informations to make up bullshit claims.

The article doesn't just say "young girls" but "girls young as possible".

    Comment by Anonymous

It depends on your definition of "young". The ideal childbirth age for a human woman is about 25-35. Going lower and higher than that decreases the likelyhood of a safe and healthy birth. If the girl is extremely young (think 13 or less), then there is a serious threat both to her and the child, which is why such pregnancies are almost universally aborted. Even 18 year old women should avoid childbirth at that age out of purely medical concerns.

Being attracted to women well outside that range is not evolutionary sound. Even disregarding legal concerns, the offspring of men who prefer women within the ideal range are far more likely to raise healthy offspring, which means their genes are more likely to propagate.

The older we have children, the more our DNA has deteriorated.

No, that's not how it works.

    Comment by Anonymous
    02:24 06/04/2013 # ! Neutral (0)

Yes, but the reason your chances for a "safe and healthy birth" drop are different on both ends of the spectrum. At ~40 complications can occur due to age. At say ~20 or later teens, it generally isn't a matter of being too young or giving birth at an unsafe age. It has much more to do with patients being unwilling or unable to seek help during pregnancy and child birth. At this end of the spectrum it's social problems and stigma that drops the stats.

At a certain point it does become unsafe for the female to become pregnant, due to "medical concerns". But that age is certainly much lower than mid 20's. Within reason, probably later teens for most people, it is evolutionarily advantageous to bear children, "the younger the better".

"The older we have children, the more our DNA has deteriorated."
And umm, ya. That's not the reason behind the stats.

It has much more to do with patients being unwilling or unable to seek help during pregnancy and child birth.

It has everything to do with the fact that the body of a young would-be mother isn't fully developed and getting a whole baby out of there is relatively harder. Go ask a gynecologist if you don't believe me.

Bullshit. Life expectancy was less than 30 for almost all of human existence.

Women's body is already fully developed to have children between 14 and 18 years for the largest majority of female populace. Only in very odd cases a 18 year old isn't at her prime to have children, and she will be much less likely to have pregnancy problems than a 25 years old as long as they take similar care with themselves.

    Actually that's true.
Teens are usually too young more chances for miscarriage also generally too irresponsible to be a good mother while past 35 there are more chances for problems like downs syndrome.

Though this is not cut a dry the general.

It should be noted society as it is does genetically favor those who can reproduce later.
A side effected of being genetically predisposed to reproduce later also comes with a longer life span.

Bullshit and feminist propaganda. For most of human history the life expectancy was lower than 30 years. It would be ridiculous to think that we evolved in a way to make the best interval to have children to be between 25 and 35 years.

Women are least likely to have problems before 30 and as long as they ovulate the younger the better.

"It would be ridiculous to think that we evolved in a way to make the best interval to have children to be between 25 and 35 years."

Well evolution doesn't work that way. Young girls and older women do end up having too many complications at childbirth, and mortality/morbidity rates are higher for the mother and baby. That's empirical evidence.

    http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/rhs-ssg/maternal-maternelle/mortality-mortalite/index-eng.php

The mortality rates for girls younger than 15 are even higher.

Girls under 15 have a 5 times higher risk of dying in pregnancy and child birth than girls over 20.

Sure, but mortality rates for girls between 15 and 25, if you discount the very poor that do have not proper care during the pregnancy is considerably lower than for girls between 25 and 35.

Obviously at very young ages women are not fully prepared to bear children, but the vast majority of women are fully developed and in their prime to have children between 14 and 17 years.
