Introducing Sankaku Channel Rankings

Sankaku Channel has received a major addition of functionality in the form of a full suite of charts and rankings showing the artists, characters and franchises generating the most popular and very best art around.
At present a wide variety of rankings are provided – the main characteristic being whether the scoring is based on the average “popularity” or “quality” of the included posts.
Popularity and quality are automatically calculated for each post based on a unique statistical algorithm incorporating post views, favourites and votes – the key difference between the two being that “popularity” incorporates time as a factor, leading to highly dynamic and constantly changing results, whereas quality considers only all-time totals.
In addition, rankings of artists, characters and copyrights are all provided, along with separate scoring systems based only on posts of each rating – enabling results to be drilled down to include artistic skill and cuteness as much as lust.
Finally, the number of posts can be filtered (small being less than 250 and large over 250), enabling relatively new entrants to be screened from their more well established counterparts.
The rankings will be updated automatically on a frequent basis, so checking them regularly is sure to be a rewarding way of discovering top new artists, the most popular characters and the hottest franchises.

@artefact, I always thought some of the problems were more or less something everyone new about. Things like the site going down for a bit when you add a new news article, or random forum topics breaking occasionally, or (maybe this one's just my problem) when I scroll over "My Account" in the nav bar, and scroll down the second options come up but the whole thing disappears when you try to move your mouse over to them. I've noticed you fixed the search bar in the forums, but really, I don't care either way. I like the site regardless ^.^
We don't necessarily know about these things unless reported.
The menu issue you mention has just been fixed, by the way.
The only problem I really care to see fixed is the one where when I post something then refresh to see it, it is gone, it is nowhere to be found. Then I post it again and I'm told that i've already said that! Apparently many people have met this problem.

Indeed. Who needs your useless rankings when nothing works and you can't see the thing.
You need to open almost 10 pages a second to get that warning so I'm afraid your complaint seems a little unfair.
I'm not opening 10 pages per second. Often I get it after opening just one page. And it's not a warning – 429 is error because you don't get what you requested.
429 is a warning from the server to throttle back a little, not an error as such. You can also trigger it with sustained periods of high activity, which might be what you are seeing.
I don't really care that you consider it as "warning", but I hit it very fast with enabled auto paging and that's extremely annoying.
Hope no more transsexuals show up in the ranking just like the most popular image on idol complex of a few weeks ago >_>

Handy I suppose — if only the server wouldn't crap out all the time with 429 errors.
The limits have been scaled back a little, but you really have to browse extremely rapidly to trigger them so it seems reasonable.
Yup! I had a lot of gallery tabs open.
I have noted that the 429 error sometimes occurs while loading thumbnails during auto paged scrolling through large galleries.
The autopages count as pages for the purpose of this restriction so it is possible that a very long and rapidly loaded page will trigger the limit.

Unfortunately, it's essential to control hotlinking unless you want your site supporting a thousand scrapers.
The hotlinking controls affecting Google Reader are something we have no control over - it's Google's business that they rely on making other sites whitelist them so their feed reader works, which for technical reasons we cannot do at present.
Sadly, since they have scrapped the service the problem is going to be solved that way...
