Top guro-eroge Saya no Uta’s English language version is nearing release this May, promising plenty of messy action in the form of one of Nitroplus and Gen Urobuchi’s better known works.
I am surprised this is getting a us release considering Saya is defently a loli. On another note, this was a great vn, short, but still really damn good. I also love some of the music like Song of Saya. In general I like all Nitro+ vn's they are all fairly good. Only issue I had with Saya no uta, is there is no.. really happy end to it, no matter how you go thru it. Anyway regardless I can't reccomend Saya no Uta enough to people, its just that good.
She is definetly loli. http://chan.sankakucomplex.com/post/show/1429706 is part of a cg from the game. I admit in some other cg she looks a bit older but still.
Also I loved the unhappy endings. They were so powerful.
Erm, not really a "loli". She looks like a teen, and that means she does not qualify as a "loli", at least not in the strict definition of the word. But then again, considering that the word itself was shot full of holes by people using it without much thought, I'm not surprised some people don't know what exactly it is supposed to mean.
Just to make it clearer, if one were attracted to a girl looking like Saya, he would be considered an "ephebophile". And a "loli" is a character to which "lolicons" (aka. "paedophiles", though we know there is a distinction between "2D" and reality so the word itself is not as heavy there as some people think it is) are attracted.
Then again, that still means it is strange they want to release the visual novel, seeing as the western world appears to be shunning erotic works with girls of this age too. And thus, you are still right.
Nice but who cares about this version when the game is already released in English under another company? No worry of pesky western ethnic censoring here.
It was never released by another company. It was fan-translated and distributed online. This is the first time it will be released legally from Nitro+ with JAST in English with both digital and hard copies.
I started playing this but got extremely turned off by the rape scenes, they were too gross and disturbing. But I do want to know the story. Can I skip the rape scenes without missing any of the story? Or am I better off just reading up on it on a wikia or something?
Alicesoft should really get their heads out of their ass and begin catering to a worldwide audience or they'll die off. J-List knows to survive companies have to sell overseas and that's why they're able to sell a variety of things from different companies who understand this. It would be super ironic if when they run out of business and sell their titles to a different company that that company lets J-CAST make adaptations of all their work.
Alicesoft doesn't like us Gaijin unfortunately (they still have us blocked from their site ffs) and Eushully makes deep strategy games, which obviously means an unprofitable double niche of hentai/strategery game when you can instead just translate a VN, which is about as difficult as translating a book.
Aye to that anon. It pains me that Jingai Makyou has been shelved indefinitely and we may never see an english release. If only Nitroplus and JAST would move their asses and fix the OS problem. Its now 8 years and counting since it was released in Japan.
That's not very supportive of the VN industry. It's okay to play an unofficial TL, but to laugh at them for trying to bring it over officially is mean.
You are forgetting about all the legalities involved in translating and distributing a game to new market. Not only are Japanese companies like Nitro+ taking a risk, it's also not high on their priorities list and focus on deadlines for current games instead of these. Working with Japanese eroge companies to be able to release their games overseas is tough and painstaking work.
Sure but it took WAAAAAYY TO DAMN LONG! Seriously how many years has the game already been out? Most people just got a version off the net and an english fan translation patch by now. Sorry to say this but they should just skip over this an translate something newer that came out recently because they were way to late to the ball game on this one.
J-list had been talking about releasing this game for over a year. It's little wonder that people grew impatient and just played the original version with a fan translation.
I admit to doing the same, but I'm looking forward to an official release. Sure it's not the greatest VN ever made, but that doesn't mean it isn't still good.
If I'm not mistaken, the fan TL and downloading the game illegally is not mutually exclusive. You can support the industry by buying the Japanese version, then apply the fan patch.
Yeah, I get the idea that a lot of "anime fans" would take blood, gore, and ultraviolence anime more seriously than anything with moe or ecchi, "just because".
they think being able to handle (desensitized to)intense violence makes them more 'mature', however they fail to realize that 12 year old little boys like gore just as much...
You're overrating Saya no Uta there. It really isn't all that amazing. I don't feel like my time was wasted reading it necessarily, but it's pretty overhyped.
This game is very thought provoking, it can be summed up in two words - Mind Rape.
It's one of the best VN i ever played...

Loli? dafu..? No she isn't...
Max JK, not loli.
saya isn't loli. she isn't even human...
She is a loli... in the protagonist's eyes. :3
Saya is an eldritch abomination that's tens of thousands of years old.

this one also http://chan.sankakucomplex.com/post/show/396459
"Saya is an eldritch abomination that's tens of thousands of years old."
It seems that someone needs to read the VN again.
Well, some People got the category 18+ adult. anything below 18 is loli.
Erm, not really a "loli". She looks like a teen, and that means she does not qualify as a "loli", at least not in the strict definition of the word. actually ..the word loli depends on the person itself. some people describe loli as below 18, some below 12 ..some below 15 but for me ..its below 12
Who cares if she is loli or if she is not loli. This is a grotesque and dark story VN. Beats the happy go bubble stuff.
They force-changed her age from Loli to 18+ as not to upset the moral fag force. Just her age but everything else is the SAME.
"and standing there, was this 18 year old tiny woman"
i can see it completely bowlderized
She's not really a loli, she's more like a creature disgusting beyond human imagination.
if saya is the name of the girl....
then from the screenshots presented...
how can be disgusted of HER?
arent you disgusted from all the hard blood? (its like a level constisting of lots of... blood and... flesh)
i can understand that you are disgusted by that flesh.
but the little girl ?
i cant see anything disgusting on her.
More like a YOUNG creature disgusting beyond human imagination.
Being disgusting don't make her less loli
Not sure if srs or just trolling...
I already played the english version a long time ago, before they decided to remove it for JAST, so honestly, it's a little too fucking late.
Nice but who cares about this version when the game is already released in English under another company? No worry of pesky western ethnic censoring here.
It was never released by another company. It was fan-translated and distributed online. This is the first time it will be released legally from Nitro+ with JAST in English with both digital and hard copies.
People call moe and ecchi disgusting, but to me this is what is disgusting XD
where's that full caps guy now? I bet he actually like this...
Those screens kind of remind me of Deadspace.
Now I hope they make English release of "Gekkou No Carnevale" next. That would be so kicking ass.
I started playing this but got extremely turned off by the rape scenes, they were too gross and disturbing. But I do want to know the story. Can I skip the rape scenes without missing any of the story? Or am I better off just reading up on it on a wikia or something?
wow, i had a boner
jap rirrie rike guro
How about translating Alicesoft and Eushully games instead of years old, already fan-translated stuff...
Alicesoft should really get their heads out of their ass and begin catering to a worldwide audience or they'll die off. Same again, I played the unofficial translation. Bought the original VN though.
Now if JAST pull their thumbs out and give us Jingai Makyou in english I will be willing to throw money at them.
Aye to that anon. It pains me that Jingai Makyou has been shelved indefinitely and we may never see an english release. If only Nitroplus and JAST would move their asses and fix the OS problem. Its now 8 years and counting since it was released in Japan.
Is she wearing panties in this one too?
picture 005:
no panty lines found.
picture 007:
traces of supposedly see-able panties are not to be found.
picture 008: traces of panties are found.
Somehow this game remind me of some song from Nine inch Nails.
Well, some of the sound effects are worse than nails against blackboards. And making things worse? It's all intentional.
Damn you, writer!
Will this be uncensored?
Why don't the asians just release their VN's over at denmark and put it in english. Then no worries about censorship. Or Sweden or the Netherlands.
Yes. It is completely uncensored, unlike the original Japanese version. You can go see samples at JAST's site.
Already played it in english LOL I apreciate the oficial translation effort but it came years too late.
That's not very supportive of the VN industry. It's okay to play an unofficial TL, but to laugh at them for trying to bring it over officially is mean.
What's the point of doing that if they're not even nearly as fast or reliable as unofficial translate was.
"reliable" hah.
Maybe it is, but to take THIS long when a fan translation was already completed, is stupid.
You are forgetting about all the legalities involved in translating and distributing a game to new market. Holy shit what the hell.
Is this something from Silent Hill?
silent hill is a kids game
This game is for the big boys
funny how people think blood/gore somehow equals "mature"... Some grown men, (real men, not man-childs) will beg to disagree..
Yeah, I get the idea that a lot of "anime fans" would take blood, gore, and ultraviolence anime more seriously than anything with moe or ecchi, "just because".

Compared to this? Yes, yes it is.
You're overrating Saya no Uta there. It really isn't all that amazing. I don't feel like my time was wasted reading it necessarily, but it's pretty overhyped.
It is pretty overhyped, but I still like the Lovecraftian theme of the VN.
