I agree... ARIA is a masterpiece. But I think the fact that it doesn't have fanservice(which it sure hell didn't need!) is most likely the reason for its low placement.
K-On! has no fanservice either.
Minami almost don't have it, either. So does Nichijou.
Take it you haven't seen alot of Mio's scenes.
Danshi Kokousei has no fanservice whatsoever, and all the main casts are male, while all the females are batshit crazy.
Mio Akiyama, the only anime girl who made a rice bowl sexy.
Bad idea to use the word "fanservice" when people don't realize it means more than ecchi and nudity. Even if K-on is nothing but fanservice for people who like "cute girls doing cute things" anime, they'll never admit it because there aren't any panty shots.
ARIA should be number 1, imo.

YKK? Only people with taste would know what that is, let alone liking it enough to rank it high.
If only YOKOHAMA KAIDASHI KIKOU could get a single 1-cour late night series, then it would probably be more recognized. 2 short OVA series with 2 episodes apiece, and the most recent episode having shipped a full decade ago now, probably isn't enough for it to be remembered as an anime, though, if this were a poll of slice-of-life manga, I'd have every confidence that YKK would be right up near the top along with YOTSUBA&!.

YKK has two OVAs, I think they're two episodes each. I personally feel it works better as a manga, but the OVAs do have nice music.

Nichijou is much, much older. Yet, it's 2nd.
The have different fanbases. I won' be surprised if Nichijou still appears in this kind of lists in the following years while K-ON is forgotten.

been a while since I saw anything, even pictures from A channel, makes me slightly happy it has not gone the route of most and forgotten after the season ends.

I don't think the actual order has much to do with it, if it gets to top 5 the actual order of titles is subjective matter.

I was glad Aria was on the list but now depressed because no Hyakko.

Lots of stuff in Genshiken was literally gay, but it was still an awesome series.

It would definitely have been great to see Genshiken and Azumanga Daioh on there though.
Azumanga Daioh is a slice of life classic.

azumanga was pathetically slow paced for a something that's based off a 4 koma...
over all im not surprised neither are on the list, just because something is a classic doesn't mean it was good.
azumanga, if the adaptation wasn't horrifically batched, would be on any top 10, but for fuck sake was it bad.
