Top pizzeria Domino’s has conceded that its new Hatsune Miku tie-up was successful beyond its wildest imaginings, with otaku driven into a pizza munching frenzy by all the Miku goodies they are providing.
One of Domino’s Japan’s directors has already been interviewed regarding the success of the promotion:
How was the reaction?
Much greater than anticipated. It’s embarrassing to admit, but the demand for the Miku pizza boxes vastly exceeded the number we prepared… at some outlets demand was over ten times our projections.
It is easy to see why, given the impressive level of effort Domino’s have put into the promotion:
Spring also sees FamilyMart getting in on the action with the aid of the lovely Sakura Miku:

One miku in a pizza box please.
Good thing i ordered mine with all toppings.
i'd like mine without a top
less than 35% lithium and less than 40% silicon by volume
Really? I would think one would specifically want w=one with conspicuously *less* "toppings".... (^ ω - )b
In the immortal words of Phillip J. Fry, "I could eat.. and fertilize."
Well, by toppings, you could have "accessories". I know I wouldn't say no to a Miku with kitty ears and tail!
Would you like an extra vocaloid with that order?
yes, some Rin with DFC sauce.
I will walk up to that scooter in public and start fapping onto the Miku vinyl. Don't care if I get in trouble- I'll do anything for Miku.
@08:52
Then you're going to eat that pizza without releasing fap material on it, or anywhere near it.
Oh god! Imagine those otaku who use the app on the pizza and actually release fap material on it.
Umm yeah,
What are the prices on the Luka-Meiko special? OH! and hold the sauce~ I have my own *~ (~. ^ )
So, do I fail as an otaku if I find the idea of a tiny Miku running across my pizza with a cutter entirely unsanitary?
If she's fresh out-of-factory, you shouldn't have to worry about dirty footprints or anything potentially unhealthy like that.
Til you realize all the workers in the back gave her a bukkake shower before bundling her with your meal.
Considering there are otakus that licks their monitor and their figures I'd say you failed to be classified as a creepy otaku
Just tell yourself she cleans it with ultrasonics.
More like she cleans it with WUBs, those miku Dubstep songs @_@ goooood
Now who can resist a partying pizza box :)
One Miku with tits in a pizza box please.
Apparently Miku is less then 50% sodium by volume.
arent they burnt out yet?
I guess Miku is powered by sodium ion batteries that or she has a lot of salt.
And zero too. Zero is a percentaje
It only says less than; it doesn't specify how much less. Less than 10% by volume is still less than 50% too.
I...
I almost want to facepalm for my fellow otaku's sake. C'mon, guys! Why are you easily manipulated? You're letting the marketers walk all over you!
...ooh, sakura Miku.
I like Pizza and I like Miku.
What makes you think people who don't know Miku and only like Pizza aren't buying these too.
This is actually a really good move to popularize both Miku and Pizza to those who lack familiarity on either of them.
Maybe because while dominos was doing normal ads the sales were not so big. Only after advertising with Miku big sales were coming their way.
Kinda obvious if you'd ask me...
Ikamusume sold squid flavored noodles and various other products.
Most were sold out as far as I remember (or read from Sankaku). I wonder if only otaku bought them.
A million times better than American promotions for one.
I love how people are condemning dominoes for teaming up with Miku. I can't recall how many times I've seen American meatheads buying up all the SuperBowl dr. Peppers, snack cakes and anything else they can slap an NFL logo on.
Or how about the avengers greeting you on whatever product they need to sell more of.
Japanese advertisers do a better (more extensive) job at exploiting/catering to what is popular. This is nothing new.
Ps. Give up on all those "real" pizza comments. The western world is the last place that people should be complaining about "real" ethnic food.
California rolls? American "Mexican" food? Sweet and sour pork? Please...
Yeah, I never really get this whole "authentic food" business. I've actually been to Tokyo once, and I must say that the food there didn't seem all that different from the kind I could order in San Francisco's Japan Town, or even my local sushi joint. Though, maybe I fail to understand because I'm not some kind of ultra taste-sensitive gourmet or whatever.
No, you're right. While they don't have California rolls in Japan, their nigiri rolls are mostly identical. Any fool can place raw fish on rice. People making claims about "authentic" sushi are just full of hot air.
The real difference lies in local tastes. Americans have no interest in crab brains or natto rolls.
And as far as pizza goes, if you put mayo on it, you're doing it wrong.
making sushi does sound ridiculously simple when you put it that way, but I imagined there'd be a ton of other factors involved. Quality of planting soil, whatever's being ingested by the local livestock/fish/game, climate conditions such as temperature and humidity, methods of preparation such as cutting, drying, and curing (seaweed and rice vinegar in this case), etc. So those things really don't have any kind of major effect on taste in the end?
Strike 1 for "American Meatheads"
LOL like all those people bitching about 'real' food aren't constantly eating american grown rice, beef, corn, eggs, not to mention burgers, fries, pizza hut, etc.etc. that they claim to hate so much. They even take their little kids and DATES to fast food joints like pizza hut thinking it's luxury. Even the poorest people in America know better than to think that's luxury food.
There's a reason why those promotions are done much more frequently overseas as recent fast food chain reports have shown. People overseas are so much more gullible and guzzle down fast food as if it's a luxury :)
Very predictable for pussies to jack each other off like ^ did. I guess bitching and moaning impotently is your national past time? ^^
12:46 I honestly never heard of vast number of American customers being so low and pathetic as to order pizzas as japs did on the basis of cartoon images and adolescent jack-off anime shit.
Hey, at least they aren't fuckin pathetic japanese otaku...or japanese lol
So when will they go international with this Miku pizza thing? It's unfair that on Japan gets the cool stuff.
You said it...
but i this is gonna be another unfulfilled wish.
That could be changed... if you're a little girl.
Kyuuuuubbbeeeyy! >:(
You could pretend to be a small dying child & enlist the aid of the Make A Wish Foundation.
Wow, I'm loving all the box art for the pizza boxes. They should alter colors for their logo to match Miku's hair color for this theme.
Yeah, those boxes look like they'd make nice collectibles. Too bad cardboard has to suck up pizza grease like a sponge. -_-
Then get the pan pizza. We have to put in grease liners into the pan boxes.
Leek topping for pizza, anyone?
Pizzahut had C.C. but Domino's has Miku.
CC should have gone with Cici's pizza.
I'd tap the huge-ass witch, given a choice between the two. Still, can't deny that Miku's got the broader appeal, has remarkably managed to not stagnate into obscurity over the years, is part of the more successful IP, and is just plain cute (plus, even if I do find CC hotter overall, Miku's sexiness seems to vary wildly depending on the artist).
'Course, it's all a moot point anyway. CC was never a Pizzahut mascot in the first place, Cheese-kun was... yeah, needless to say, Miku just destroys that sort of competition.
...Now we shall just wait for somebody to find a cyan hair in their pizza.
Cyan pubic hair?, *boner*
